Toyota is beating porsche to the punch with a hybrid electric prototype, meaning the sounds of the petrol engine will not be lost from LMP1 competition in the near future.

But what is it about this system that makes it able to compete with the turbodiesel cars in the class? I dont get how a KERS-like system is going to enable than much greater economy. Any thoughts on this?

Toyota had spend millions if not billion in an F1 effort whitout any success, i dont know what they will do in endurance races.
