Radar install recommendations - central fl

I purchased a couple of Beltronics STI-R units to have installed in my wife's car and mine. I know I can probably take this to ultimate auto and pay mortgage worth of money to them to get it installed, but was hoping someone might have an equally decent recommendation that doesnt rape.

Appreciate any help!

I used a company called Technicar before. They are very good, although I think they may be in the rape price section.

Another idea is to look on Escort's website for a list of authorized resellers. You may find an installer that way.

It's an easy install that you can do yourself if you'd like to walk you through it. Super easy.

The only thing I had installed was my display inside my rearview mirror. Everything else was easy and straight forward.

PM me if you're interested.

I just dont want to take the bumper cover off... and im not sure i have the time. I think I found a reputable shop near me that I'm going to use. I'll let them do my wife's 2016 xc90 first... if they get that right, they can do mine

You don't need to take the bumper off. Just pull of the left or right kidney grills and install the radar there.

I was going to have them install it in the honey-comb at the bottom (cut out a little chunk and stick the head through). Does it still perform ok with obstructions (vertical grill)?

It would always be beat unobstructed however I was concerned with the aesthetics.

For me it performs well behind the grill but I did have to raise it higher as the stock bracket doesn't position it well. I took another stock bracket, flipped it and bolted to get her then mounted the radar. Improved greatly.

I also now have three laser shifters upfront which are a higher priority for me than radar since they use instant on and laser down here so radar is alms of useless.

Don't forget to segment the radar frequency. Will be far more superior.

Did you look into having the display installed inside your rear view? It's bad ass.

I have the Bel Stir Plus on my M5 and had one of our local dealers do the install for me. They installed the receiver toward the bottom behind the honeycomb (bottom center) and no cutting. Not sure if the bumper cover came off but I can ask. We have a bunch of dealers in FL including Ultimate Auto. Full list is posted here if you want to check around http://www.radar-mirror.com/Dealer_FL.html

And have to agree with 13M5F10 - the mirror display is bad ass.

Radar installed and they did an amazing job, but when they were running checks on the car--my comfort access decided to stop working. They're trying to determine why but looks like the keys aren't being recognized by the module for some weird reason. Car still starts, can use the unlock on the fob, but if you open the door while its running you get the warning that the remote cannot be found or something. You also can't lock/unlock by touching the handle. Everything else is fine--very odd...

will do--ya, it seems like this can happen if you disconnect the battery or it gets drained / dies. There were a few forum posts where the module randomly fails. Who knows. I scheduled to take it in to the dealer on tuesday.

pictures to follow.

Looks great! Very clean and discreet.

I placed my controller near the stop button.

Any pictures of the radar head? Shifters if you have any?

Thanks!

Radar head is hard to see--he put it behind the vertical kidney grill just right of center. The GPS is in the back window.
