If you want it go for the M5. I would imagine your climate and snowfall is similar to what we get in Denver. I've driven M3s for 11 winters in a row on snow tires and never gotten stuck or had any issues. Not to mention intentional slides are a blast... I've run Nokian Hakka R for the last 6 winters and they are without compare. For a more performance-oriented tire that gives up a little snow traction for better dry performance go for the Michelin PA4.
