21's... hurt performance?

Besides weight...does a 21" wheel set-up on the M5 hinder performance in any other way? Can too small of a sidewall hinder handling capability in any way?

21's sure do look nice on the large body of the F10 M5. But I don't want form to precede function in any way.

Thoughts, insight, opinions, etc... are all welcome.

Thanks.

Yes, sidewall is crucial to handling.

Thanks Mastek.

So that I'm clear... you're saying the small size of the sidewall on a 21" tire suitable for the M5, will actually hinder performance. Correct?

I have 20" and 21" lightweight ADV1's. The 21" setup has MUCH less traction than my 20" 343M wheels do thats for sure. And I have michelin PSS on both setups. Like others have said, I think the lack of sideway has a lot to do with it.

I LOVE how it looks though! Nom Nom Nom!

Yeah, the large body of the f10 really call for a larger wheel for visual balance IMO.
But def don't want to put form before function.

20's it is!

Phil, just go with a concave or deep concave monoblock; the wheels APPEAR bigger.

I had 21's on my M6 and it looked incredible and the handling felt great still with Michelin PS2s at the time (this is back in 2010)

Id do the 21's. Most of the time youre not racing it in the streets anyhow. I think My 21"s are lighter than my 343Ms too!

Just put your stocks on if your going to the track or attend a car meet and drive date.

Well, I opted for looks. I fig my M5 is for street use. I'll leave the toy for pure function.
