F10 M5 traded for 991.1 GT3

Gents,

Wanted to share the news and have fellow GT3 owners chime in on their experiences with their GT3, especially when coming from the F10 M5.

I have to say this is the most raw car I have driven. I thought I was going to miss the power and luxury of the M5 (mine was catless and tuned). But nothing compares to this engine of the GT3. I only put 20 miles of my own on it so far since the second I finished signing the ppwk a snowstorm hit NJ and I was 20 mins from my house. I cannot wait for exhaust and to really enjoy this engine up to 9k rpms today. .

I sold my 991 GT3 and left my RS.
Then bought an F10 M5, there is no other car that can haul 5 people with the speed and luxury on an M.

You will be back.

Enjoy your new toy.

What's funny is that in the back of my head I was thinking in 8-12 months I'll be eyeing the F90. But for now I'm enjoying the shit out of this amazing machine

Both are great cars and I find them complementary to one another ........I could never choose one over the other. I couldn’t drive a GT daily which is a low torque track machine I’ve owned 991 GT3 which I traded for a RS and RS to a 458 I wanted a V8 with torque with 9k rpm. I keep two family haulers. Enjoy the GT3 fantastic freaking car and it will hold good value.

Indeed. the F10 will drop come spring time when the F90s are at the deaulers, otherwise I would have kept it. I wanted to avoid the depreciation and what better car to put money into than a GT3

The door choices out there just don’t excite me now AMG E63 is the close to what I will buy, have some time for sure.

Well played... I had a 15 GT3 and enjoyed it rather alot. But I got an offer to sell and it was well over msrp so I just dropped it after 7 months to get a Huracan. Now I find myself looking at lower mile used ones once again.

You will miss that immediate tq response in the M5 and the better tech inside but then the GT3 isnt about that. My issue was also were I lived; I just couldnt not always rip the GT3 because of traffic and the car is truly an 8/10ths or better car meaning you have to be on it to understand its advantages from a speed perspective. On a freeway to move from 50 to 120 takes some premeditation vs a tuned M5 which is just a mash of the pedal in D3 mode.

Ill say this, the GT3 is absolutely the best launching RWD car Ive ever owned and thats 34 cars in 10 years (no slouches in the list either). I might be back too as I dont need the GT3 for anything other than fun now.

Again congrats. If you have not done an exhaust, a simple and cheap center pipe replacement yields even more smiles. The LeMans sounds just shriek at 9k rpms and the PDK is the best of any Pcar PDK Ive owned (Ive had 5).

Awesome inputs. there's just something so raw and visceral about the GT3 and it's my first Porsche and I'm in love. I do miss the smoothness and luxury of my M5 but this GT3 makes me forget that some bit. I would love to have the Huracan as my next beast. God willing this GT3 will hold its value well. I bought it at $133K with 7200 miles. sticker was $148

I think you will be fine with the price, it wont appreciate but the drop curve is not steep at all on this car and your miles are lower. Think about what that dealer made in profit back in the day: 148k msrp with 11% in the car to invoice means they paid PCNA about 132k pre holdback. And that car a few years later is RETAILING for 133k to a 2nd or 3rd owner (not sure on your car). It just says so much about the Porsche GT car series... Mine was a 151k msrp car and I sold it for 156k

I am second owner which should help. When did you sell yours? also I feel like the extended engine warranty Porsche is giving these cars (extra 7 years or 195k miles) helps.
