Best settings for city driving?

BIMMERPOST

I'm struggling to find the best auto gearbox setting for daily use. I'm on D2 (with Sport on the throttle) because D3 holds the gears too long. Gentle driving starts the gearbox in second which I don't like. I'm not interesting in using the paddles for commuting. Any thoughts?

Also, can I program away the Stop/Start through the M settings? It's dumb to have to do this separately. Probably user error...

I'm not overly impressed with the DCT but it could be the way I've set up my M1 - it often seems to be in the wrong gear and the tip-in is the lurchiest in any double clutch I've driven.

Edit: I just got back from my first proper open road run in the car through the fabled Adelaide Hills. Jesus, what a weapon! Fast as hell and incredible chassis composure. Very impressive.

I guess I'll learn to live with jerky clutch takeup.

I am still learning about the car only had it a week but I also find it a bit jerky in comfort mode. It rained really heavy here yesterday and I found the traction control was cutting in quite a bit under normal driving effort nothing aggressive. It will take a while for me to get use to it.

Yes. But the M5 feels like it has higher limits. The Benz is easier to just get in and drive and sounds much better everywhere. It feels incredibly poised on the road but I still don't think it could catch a well driven M5.
