200 miles and brakes are squealing

I now this car is still being broken in, but is brake squealing normal? Kind of embarrassing to come to a stop and my car is causing squealing noise from the brakes.

It's a known issue, your SA should be able to address this.

When I bring my car in for 1200 mile service, I'll mention it. What's the fix?

Performance brake squeal? Really how come my other porsche does not? That tells the build quality of BMW. Mine is over 5,000 miles and still squeal after fixed twice. I will take it in again next month.

My brakes squealed in the beginning as well but stopped somewhere between 100 and 200 miles. If yours don't stop squealing soon I would complain.

Mine squeeled, sounded like an old bus, made BMW change the pads, followed bed in procedure as described on here and no more squeeling. 2500 miles added.

Mine squeal but I don't really mind. Used to driving my M3 I guess which has track pads on it and sounds like a bus. They most likely just need to be bedded again.

My experience with squealing issue
Most people having the squealing issue will be the ones driving their M5 gingerly and it seems it is not meant to be used in that manner.

So when it squeals I flog the breaks a few times and I won't squeal for about a week afterwards -

Probably harder type of Pads is the reason!
Thank Goodness I don't have CCB's -

My 2 cents

Typically dust or a stone. Slam on the breaks really hard see if that works. Works for me.

Works everytime.. unless the brakes are warped.

Most causes of squel in the brakes is dirt. Try to ride for some time and break evenly, not abruptly to remove the dirt. If after doing it for some time and it still squeals then the problem is uneven wear on the brakes which is difficult to get rid off without changing the brakes. My mechanic tells me that abrupt brakes is the major cause of uneven brake wear. In case you have the brakes change, it is best to avoid abrupt braking if avoidable (lest there is really need as to avoid an accident).
