2014 M5: Lighting Question

All,

I just took delivery of a new 2014 M5 (that was still sitting in stock). When going over the lighting...was hard to do it in daylight but now at night I can verify more...I have found some issues but don't know if it is correct or not.

The front l/r door sills that are embossed with M5 are not lit up and from what I have read in the brochure I was under the impression that they were supposed to light up as well do the rears?. Also noticed that the ambient lighting on the doors is very week and not consistent along the trim to include very little if any at all on the rear doors. (just saw the threads about the ambient lighting being weak)

Any insights to if this is appropriate or not?

Thanks,

Mark

I have a MY '15 with non-illuminated door sills.

Some people have complained about the brightness of the ambient lighting but IMO find the amount of illumination just right. After your eyes adjust in darker situations you'll see what I mean. You do have some minor adjustments available through idrive but don't expect holiday lighting effects.

Congrats on the purchase.

IND should create some illuminated door sills, what do you think?

Granted this should have been included by BMW among other things . But that won't happen now obviously.

It is interesting that the NA literature for the 2014 MY states illuminated...had to look at it twice and the looked at the German variant where it is not stating illuminated.

No standard illuminated door sills on M5. Only M6...
