Yeah, that's scary. I have bought cars at different dealerships and take them to yet another for service. In a case like this I doubt I would have that option. Glad to know that mine is likely a VDC repair..

With 590 foot-pounds of torque I'm sure it will be just as sporty. The 20 inch wheels do look better on the M5/6 though compared to the 19s on the E.

A pretty obvious reason not to leave your car at the dealership.

I saw somewhere on the thread that people were asking about production being stopped or affected... no problems whatsoever... Just had a call with them at the Welt all is fine... my car is scheduled for pick up on week 46... so don't panic...

After having my M5 towed to dealer last week, I stopped in to check on it yesterday. Car was being stored in service garage with hard water stains and dust/dirt all over it! Promptly had them wash it and took my baby home, where she will remain until stupid oil pump arrives.

Just received notification that my oil pump is in. My M6 was flatbedded to the dealer and should be complete this afternoon.

I hope this brings a measure of relief to those of you affected by the recall.

Does your dealer have all the ancillary parts to fix?

I assume so. Otherwise he would not have come to pick up the car. There would be no point as the agreement was I'd keep it in my garage. If we held it at the dealer he would have had to take it in and out of their service garage. Plus I could be assured it was safe. On the other hand we'll see.

Thank you for posting this info on your car. Please let us know how it goes and if they in fact get the car back to you in short order.

Good call. They received all but a filter. They are having it overnighted. In the meantime, they are keeping the car on a lift in the garage with a warm heater next to it wrapped in blankets so it will not get too cold. ET completion, tomorrow afternoon or Wed AM depending upon whether the parts arrive in the AM mail or PM.

It's been 11 days for me and the dealership is still without any news! I requested the car be fixed in Greenville/Spartenburg SC. Still no response from either! I did get an initial call from BMW NA on Sept 21. All has been silent since!

My dealer just recieved their first pump. Unfortunately it's not for my car unless I can pay someone off. They included a picture with the email.

Just spoke to Anthony from BMW NA and he confirmed that 124 of 287 oil pumps has been shipped out to the dealers with the affected VIN number. He had to make sure if my VIN number was on the list, but was not able to confirm. I will get an email from him by tonight if I am on the list of shipment or not. He also stated that the remaining pumps will get shipped out by the end of the week. Hopefully I am a part of the 287. On a side note, my dealership (CA or SA) has no clue on what is going on, they stated that the parts are not available to order and there is no instructions on how to get the parts.

I agree, my dealer keeps saying 'no update yet'. BMW has kept them completely clueless in every regard. did he speak of any priority?

I was told today by BMW NA that priority is going to the dealers. All cars at the VPC are at the end of the list.

I was told that all 287 oil pumps belongs to the VINs listed in the recall notice, so if your car is not listed, I advise you to call and make sure with BMW NA that it is. I already got a confirmation email from Anthony that my part will be placed on the next parts shipment. Here is his email response:

Hi Mr. Lim,

Pleasure speaking with you earlier. I forwarded your information to be placed on the next parts shipment. Any further questions feel free to contact me directly. I normally deal with the motorcycle side of the business, but am assisting with this recall due to the nature of the models affected. I’ve copied Gregory Gilday, Service Manager at Long Beach BMW.

Greg, feel free to contact me if you need further information and I can provide.

Kind regards,

Also, just got confirmation from my dealer that BMW NA has made contact with them regarding receiving 4 oil pumps by the end of this week.
