Anybody try ECS Tuning 90c Thermostat?
Hi guys,
Anybody try the ECS tuning 90c Thermostat?? https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F10-M5...ng/Thermostat/ And do you think it will fit an F13 M6, it's not listed as compatible on that car.

You want the engine to come up to operating temperature more quickly, hence the thermostat. The capacity and efficiency of the radiators will determine the temperature of the coolant after the proper running temperature is reached. If you've built a high HP motor, you'll need more radiator capacity, not a thermostat that opens earlier. |

The colder thermostat could also lead to more consistent power. If the engine gets too hot, the computer will start to pull timing which can be an issue when racing. By allowing the engine to get "cooler" earlier, this could prevent the timing from being pulled and allow for more consistent back to back runs.
This is the first mod my Z06 friends do and since our computers pull timing too, I would assume this could benefit us as well.

OP, the ECS link shows F13 m6 as an application for the thermostat. I see that FCP Euro has the best price, but I havent checked ebay or aliexpress RM European has good pricing on stuff, too.
As far as location download the engine manual from here http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803494 |

If your sitting stationary, your absolutely correct, there is no difference.. BUT if your driving around allowing the air to cool the rads etc, it will run cooler with the 90c thermostat.. It just wont make it run cooler ALL the time STILL CANT SEE WHERE THE THERMOSTAT GOES EVEN WITH THE MANUAL . Last edited by financenick; 09-07-2017 at 07:28 AM.. |

Why you want new termostat. put your car sport+ and termostat and cooling lines are 100% open.
efficiency mode water temperature 98-104 celsius sport mode same sport+ drops about 20 celsius. mine goes around 78-86 celsius |

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but you are aware that the M5 uses a map-controlled thermostat? If you don't know of the map-thermostat please read the pdf from Mahle. It will come up if you Google 'map thermostat'. I think it makes spending $100 on the Hamburg Tech thermostat from ECS a waste of money.

This is what you need if you want to lower your temps , Lucky for you I have the system available for sale now .
This is the system that was on Allmotor_2000 car . This is a one-off kit that is fully custom and probably the only setup that actually works. People have tried all sorts of gimmicks but they don't work. It took months to figure it out. Has a 55gph Meziere pump (these run $550 just for the pump). Custom Ice-Tank with aluminum hard-lines including a 'burpee' to remove air-pockets. The hard-lines run until the DCT and then it is hoses to the IC's. Without ice I can keep the IAT's < 90 through a 1/2 mile pass. With ice a frigid 55-75 in a 1/4-mile. Just having the extra 4-5 gallons of water makes a HUGE difference. Keep in mind a stock M5 will hit 115-125 degrees easy. People buy intakes for $2K... this is something that actually helps. It doesn't make power (obviously) but ensures you keep everything you got! If you make 700whp on the dyno with your hood open, you are actually making 650whp on the street. This makes sure you have all 700whp on tap. If you put ice, you gain much more. I can run more timing which is safer for the motor with lower IAT's. Here is the original thread from the build: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1201845 The picture is how it looks today. Originally had a Rule bilge-pump setup (which sucked) and had to figure things out. The hard-lines etc. are the same. Last edited by BMWAUDIO; 09-30-2017 at 04:04 PM..
