Warranty claim history

Hey guys, I'm trying to gauge if I want to buy a used M6 GC out of warranty or not.

I figured best way is to ask what fixes owners of M5s have actually claimed under factory warranty to date.

So what has actually broken on your specific car thus far that was claimed under warranty?

Man I've been very fortunate and have only needed 02 sensors replaced under warranty but there is no way I would even think of buying a M5 without an extended warranty. I like having the peace of mind.

So that's what I wanted to avoid discussing. The entire "unknown issues". Certainly M cars had their demons in every generation (vanos, rod bearings), but aside from the bogeyman issue that pops up in year 7+, I really just want to know immediate issues that has popped up within the first 4 years or so.

My estimated ownership will be in years 4 to 8.

Thanks, 02 sensors noted. Not a major issue IMO.

Again, thanks, but please share actual experiences. My E90 M3 has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Cost to fix is certainly high, no debate here...But I specifically wanted to know what have you fixed on your M5/6

Seems like oil leaks from the oil lines appears to be common?

I had a full clutch pack that was replaced under warranty, due to the previous owner launching multiple times. The previous owner is also a regular here on the forums. My ac also isn't blowing cold air now-I'll find out in a few days if it's a freon or a condensor issue. The parts and labor for these items in the past 1 1/2 years easily could've easily cost me $3500 if I didn't have a warranty. The car is semi-expensive to repair.

13’ M5- Power Steering Failure, Fuel Pump, Coolant Lines and several other items that I don’t remember.

15’ M5 - No issues to date.

No two cars are alike and, as such, I would not own one of these cars w/o a warranty.

Good Luck!

Are there any major parts components that BMW has extended 10 year warranties on?

Also, had O2 sensors replaced.

In my ownership of a 2014 M6 GC i only ever claimed for high pressure fuel pump and injectors (injector changed due to failure of high pressure fuel pump)
