MSR Intake to Rk Autowerks Intake Experience
So I had the chance to pick up a RK Autowerks intake. I had the MSR installed for about a year or so. Loved the MSR.. Seemed to definitely add power and that hollow metal tube swoooosh was the best!
So as I said I was able to pick the RK for a deal so I did. I installed the RK and honestly was not happy at all. I did about 6 to 8 pulls and was very unhappy. The car seemed to be confused.. It would take off oddly and would not shift correctly from a WOT take off.. She just wasn't right. So I parked it for the night, I wanted to rip it out right away and put my MSR back in but I figured with all the effort there was to go from one to the other I figured I would give it a try the next morning before making a decision. So I start it up the next morning and let it warm up.. I revved her a few times after warm and was shocked. My exhaust pops had returned. Somewhere along the trek or mods I lost the majority of my exhaust pops.. I know sad... But they're back now!!! So that's awesome! So I take her for a spin...MAN oh MAN... the power change from the prior MSR set up was OBVIOUS. Also, the car wasn't confused anymore, which was a relief. With the MSR I would lose traction of course a lot but nothing even close to the wheel spinning I experienced with the RK. I was able to spin my wheels obviously all throughout 1st and pretty much all of 2nd. I am now able to break lose with full throttle with 3rd gear now. That was absolutely not the case with MSR. I was honestly shocked by the results and the performance increase with the RK. No dyno or numbers to report(Sorry).. But the massive increase in wheel spin says it all. There was a massive, obvious, clear, huge positive change in power. Not trying to start anything or dog MSR or anything like that... With the obvious difference I experienced I felt it was necessary to share my awesome experience with you guys. Its insane how I can break loose now with the RK compared to not really being able to with my MSR set up before. Last edited by Rockin-The-F10; 11-25-2017 at 02:31 AM.. |

Thanks for the post.
I just purchased a set of intakes from Jordan @ RKTunes. Is RK Tunes and RK Autowerkes the same company ? I know they are different locations based on their websites but figured I would ask you. |

Yeah the tire traction is an issue but here it shows the difference. I DEF hate not hooking up.... but does make racing a little more skillful... only lost once in over a year and I LOOK to race lol. |

yes, its THAT good. It's actually a shame more people dont run it. I've had it on my car for about 6k miles, never one issue. Never one misfire, never touched plugs, never let me down. Anyone in south florida who knows me, knows my car runs consistant. Every single run, every single time. I personally am not worried about dct wear, i dont drive much. And i'm not constantly dogging the car. But leave no doubt, 50 and 65 roll, she goes. |

I have the JB4 without the BCM(Couldn't get it to work)... and then exhaust and the intake. Whats your active 8 putting down to the wheels? HP? I also have a Dinan Stage 2 I yet to try out.. curious to see which is better between the Stage 2 and the JB4. Last edited by Rockin-The-F10; 12-01-2017 at 05:23 PM.. |

Shit.. I'm not making this crap up. Significant additional wheel spin from prior intake shows added power.. right?? Changes in the intake will definitely change the characteristics of engine revs and what not. This intake clearly made my exhaust pops come back. AGAIN.. I aint making this shit up. I kicked myself for a week after buying my RK, but after so many compliments on the looks and that initial boost you get in a pull, it is worth it. PLUS, when it is a nice day with the windows down, you can hear the intake noise (I have K&N). Mine did take a few days to acclimate from just K&N drop in filters.
