Looks good but why did they go with the older side vent? Thought it would like like the new M3's.

The most revealing of the spyphoto sets is this one: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=303014).

But on to the guts of the story. The car itself is destined to arrive in late 2010/2011 as a 2011 model. CAR magazine expects that the car will have:
  • 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo
  • 578bhp, 530lb ft
  • 155mph limited top speed
  • 0-62mph 4.4sec
  • Unlimited top speed 188mph

The 4.4l V8 M engine would be the same exact unit as is found currently in the X5 and X6 M, but with a few tweaks to differentiate the vehicles slightly. CAR also supposes that this car will be not only the fastest, but also the cleanest M5 to date.

Make sure to catch the January issue of CAR magazine for all the details on the M5.

M3 is faster than that. they should break the 4 second mark with top at 210 and nurbeurgring at 745. my m3 is lower 4s with a top of 190 without limiter. seats 5 comfortably now why would i want the M5?

Because the new M5 will be better than your M3 in every way, except for the additional weight. Just as the next gen M3 will destroy your M3 in every category.

The M5 is gonna be a beast! Can't wait for it to be the ultimate "daily" driving machine

This version does closely mimic an enlarged M3 - I hope they integrate more unique 5 series styling cues.

Rumours are that the M5 F10 will have the 4.4 twin-turbo V8 of the X5 and X6 M.

But I seriously hope the M5 doesn't sound anything like this...

... because it sounds horrible.

It doesn't sound like a twin-turbo V8 it sounds like a four cylinder; a turbo four cylinder but a four cylinder nevertheless. I wish it sounded deeper and more thunderous like Mercedes-Benz AMG's new 5.5 twin-turbo V8:

According to the new May 2010 Car and Driver mag the new M5 will go on sale Spring 2011. Now my question is when can you place an order on one. This is a must have car.
