Is the VPC in NY/NJ closed due to Sandy????

My car is supposed to arrive in port 11-1 and I wondering if it will be delayed because of possible damage from flooding at the VPC. My dealer showed me a bulletin that that all BMW group facilities were closed today.

It was closed Mon and today. Not sure if they're able to resume normal operations tomorrow. However ships enroute have not interrupted their journeys (ie left Halifax for NJ)
I'm sure there're will be reduced capacity for a few days

Latest update from BMW NA

Jersey City Vehicle Distribution Center
• These facilities are currently without power and will remain
closed, Wednesday, October 31. Utilities are working to restore
power, however, they are unable to determine when power will return
due to the widespread affects of the storm.
At least out cars safe and sound on the boat. Hopefully no cars at the VDC have suffered damage (as most cars are in a parking structure/garage only a few should have been exposed to the elements) .
Also the folks from the VDC have likely other things on their mind than our cars and I hope they and their families are safe ! we'll get our cars eventually and still have plenty time to drive them.

At the expense of sounding like a jerk at this point there are bigger fish to fry then delivery of a car. Please dont take it personally but the destruction and loss of homes/property puts things into perspective. I feel lucky to have my M5 but also feel luckier that I have a home to go back to today.

Looks like the port of Baltimore has resumed normal operation as of Wed morning.
They must have dodged the bullet with "Sandy"

My car was on the Porgy and was offloaded from the boat on the afternoon of 10/25...still no new info from BMWNA nor my client advisor as to whether or not the car has sustained any damage due to the storm or when I can expect it..where is this info regarding status of VDC coming from?? Where are these cars kept after being taken off boat??

Its my understanding, in speaking with BMWNA, that M5's are kept in a secured, covered facility while waiting for VPC.

VDC status is coming directly from BMW. As of right now they are still closed through tomorrow. BMW NA headquarters is closed too, so unfortunately getting answers might be tough.

Here's the latest:

Quote:
- Jersey City Vehicle Distribution Center

• These facilities are still without power and will continue toremain closed, Friday, November 2. Utilities are working to restore power, however, they are unable to determine when power will return due to the widespread affects of the storm.
Important to note - some cars are headed to Baltimore. The Baltimore VDC IS up and running:

• These facilities are open and fully operational.

This is all true. The Turandot is going currently off the southern coast of NJ heading to Baltimore's VPC. My car was supposed to arrive in NY today. Now it will arrive in Baltimore between tomorrow and Saturday. Mt dealer is 1 hour north of NYC so I wondering now how long it will be until the car goes from Baltimore to my dealer.

Pretty sure BMW NA is closed too (they're in North Jersey also), so that would make sense.

I called the other day and spoke to someone in a Ohio office. They had no clue of what was going on.

All cars on the Turandot where re-routed to Baltimore. The ship arrived at the dock within the last hour or two.
