From new I only have 343 black or 601 as a wheel option.

Do you have option of M6 wheels too? M6 343 and 601 are 0.5" wider. look more aggressive

I agree. Order the wider wheel and you can put wider tires on the rear more comfortably..

That's what I was thinking about, but then I was comparing two sets.
295/30/20 on 343M (M5) vs 305/30/20 on 343M (M6).
The second configuration sticks out by 20 mm (due to different ET and 10mm wider tire). No issue for inside, but outside??
Has anyone tried 20mm spacer on stock M5 wheels? If it doesn't have any rubbing issue (touching the fenders) then it's good to go

I know 15 mm spacer can be installed with no issue:

M6 wheels with stock tires on M5 stick out by 15 mm which look fine and no rubbing according to the link. No issue for front wheels too since front rims (M5 vs M6) have almost the same ET (31 vs 32)

These are the specs for 343 and 601 rims

M5:
Front 20x9 , ET 32
Rear 20x10, ET 34

M6:
Front 20x9.5 , ET 31
Rear 20x10.5, ET 19

So exciting, car has arrived with forged 343 matt black rims, looks like they're winning. Like the 601's but they look small on the M5 plus they reminiscent of the V8 M3 wheels but with less spokes.

In the flesh the 601's look a bit too pretty. BUT, the black 343's look the business... and they win for me!
