You have to be a motor sport enthusiast to drive a M5 and the 20% rule does not apply to most of us.

What percent of your income are you willing to spend on a M5?

Well, its up to you. This is just a survey to get an idea for my next buy. But why would any one count gross? That is the part of salary you do not see.

All depends on your living standards and cost of living in your area. Numbers will be quite different if you're in San Francisco vs Atlanta. I know people making $250k in SFO and could barely afford to buy a house. $250k salary is pretty good in GA.

Only if they let me get the feel of the car, I can consider buying one. Without driving one, I can't make the decision so it's their loss.

I imagine if you live in wealthier zip codes this wouldn't be a problem. The only M5s my dealer had on the floor were special ordered. I did get to sit in one though, when the owner decided on an i8 instead!

Not sure if North Jersey is wealthy enough for dealers to let drive a M5. I'm the type to walk in a dealership dressed down with my rollie on. I don't need to wear a suit and a tie to impress them so they can let me drive one.
