I didn't do this. When I dropped the car off there was absolutely no damage. I walked the car with the ED person and they actually wrote on my vehicle inspection report "No Damage." I'm just speechless...

Got a call from my dealership today stating they got their very first oil pump today and its vin matched to my car. I'm thrilled obviously but wondering if this has anything to do with the two calls I had from BMW NA which occurred after my mini rant on twitter. Not sure why its taking so long to get the oil pumps in for the Charlotte dealerships (we only have two both owned by same people). But anyway.....car supposed to be ready for delivery on Saturday. Hallelujah!!!!!

Many may laugh. But yes, social networking is a very powerful thing. Say one wrong thing or get tagged in one wrong pic and *poof* your whole career/life can be over. So yeh, we need to put it to work for us as well.

Nah. Normal delivery. Car reached dealership and then recall happened prior to delivery.

Just got mine back with the new oil pump. I was a bit surprised the dealer did the break-in service at 750 miles. They said BMW authorized it. Anyone know if this is a problem?

This has come up in multiple other threads. Confirmed: not an issue. Drive it like you stole it dude.

That's OK, it had been so long for me that I couldn't remember how to work half the functions! Far right pedal still works very well though.

Mine is still another 2 weeks out. I feel like the whole BMW Welt Delivery Experience was only a dream sequence that I had once and now I'm awake.

Dude you are crazy funny for posting that.

Well I'm finally in business. Got a call on Thursday saying my pump had arrived, was the first in Charlotte, and would be all done including tint and Escort 9500ci custom install by Saturday am. And it was indeed ready. Here are the sequence of events leading up to the delivery very condensed version:

1. I saw car...fell in love. Paid deposit
2. Told about recall same day. Told to expect a couple weeks or so delay for delivery. And that I couldn't test drive the car or even start it as a result
3. Two weeks goes by. I start to lose my mind and get very antsy. Start to make random trips to dealership - no answers or certain time frame
4. Friday before last I get an email from dealership saying pumps are supposed to ship out "today"
5. Days later still no confirmation info at dealership or timeframe. Commence twitter rant directed @BMWUSA and also @BMWCCA about recall
6. Two days later get call from a lady from BMW NA who demands to know dealership mane, CA name and VIN of car.
7. Three days later call from dealership stating arrival of pump and car to be delivered in 2 days.
...what's that thing they say about the squeaky wheel again? My CA did confirm the lady called the dealership to confirm the deposit and the VIN and then stronghandedly took care of it on an individual basis. Her name was Betsy.

What do I think of the car?
Well I have owned 7 cars prior to this in my life. This is the first I have ever bought WITHOUT driving before hand. Now that I'm driving it, it's unreal. Clearly I can't push it because I'm still in break-in. But Lemme tell ya. I think most people would need to drive it to really appreciate what it is you're paying for. Just a few extra thoughts then a couple pics....

1. On thrust. I've driven a 2012 GTR. I'm giving this car about 75% throttle at most so far. This thing feels ridiculous. I guess there's nothing like 502 lbft. of torque...except maybe more. The fact that I'm relatively light on the throttle and it wants to break traction so much is crazy.

2. On size. many don't agree, but compared to my E90 M3, honestly this car doesn't feel a whole bigger at all to me. Doesn't feel as "big" as our 535i either just because of how firm and rigid the chassis/suspension feel. People told me it won't feel as nimble as the M3. Well while I haven't really thrashed it around or been to the Tail of The Dragon yet, or a track, I'd say for all intensive purposes I disagree. It feels just as agile and nimble and light on its feet to me. Maybe that's cause I'm coming from an E90 and not E92 M3.

3. On road noise and sound. Heard reports about road noise being excessive. Those people clearly never drove an F10 5 series with run-flats. The cabin of this car is whisper quiet on the move compared to what I'm used to. And it's sitting on 20" performance rubber for God sakes. Not sure what those people were looking for or what roads they driving on. To be any quieter I'd need a Lexus ES 350 (no thanks). Engine sound? Sounds incredible. i do agree the synthesized engine note sounds a bit just that - synthesized. It almost sounds as though it has an extra tone....like the Lexus LFA. Almost like two different engines revving at different RPMs at the same time. Best way I can describe it. I could probably do without it but it does sound cool and I suspect I'm getting used to it.

4. Comfort. I just brought home a 12 week old infant in the back and he fell asleep and slept soundly for a 20 minute drive. Enough said.

5. B & O. My opinion is that I'm overall pleased I got this. no regrets. I prefer to have this than the full/personalised leather/colors other people went for. It's definitely outstanding when engine/wind noise isn't a factor. When they are, such as driving with windows down, there's no real improvement in sound quality to appreciate over the logic 7 system IMO. Aesthetics are awesome.

A couple pics I'll post if allowed. I'm getting some weird message about security token mismatch. Finally good luck to all those who are still waiting. I advise you to make a little polite noise if getting impatient. BMW NA is definitely paying attention.
