With all these timing everyone will have a gauge of how powerful this tune can be....
+1

I do not care much about 1/4 mile though, driver mod is required..
All of the rolling accelerations does not require driver mod, go get us some vbox data before even celebrating numbers

There was an acceptable range of fuel system pressure (from Bosch I assume - printed in the BMW service manual) and we found out fairly early on that increasing the system pressure to the upper limit was a way to get more fuel into the engine and thus get better performance. All the manufacturers that used Bosch used the CIS on one car or another and they all had a shim kit to adjust the pressure. One time I was at a dealer that also sold Mercedes and VW getting some work done on my car. On a whim (not much else to do) I decided to see if the VW and MB parts were the same as the shim kit from BMW, and what they cost. I do not remember the actual prices but it was something like this - MB was something like $60-65, BMW around $35, and VW's was under $30. They were all the exact same parts: a hollow bolt with holes in it that fit into the center of the fuel distributer and a set of washers of varying thicknesses - used to shim that bolt, thus adjusting the maximum fuel system pressure. The bolts were identical (the same length and diameter, with the exact same threads) and so were the shims. All of them were in a plastic bag but the MB and BMW parts were also in a little box (of course with their respective logos on them) while the VW part was just in a plastic bag with the VW logo on it. The only difference was the brand name on the packaging and the type of package it came in . . . oh, and of course the price. I'm sure they were all made by Bosch and packaged for the vehicle manufacturer.

I don't know about tuning any of the BMWs or Dodge products. I've done a GM. It was tough to get it drivable and have good performance. And it was just a basic turbo conversion - none of the fancy variable cam timing and other exotic stuff BMW is doing with these engines.

Another thing to consider in the price of a tune (besides the price of the car) or anything else for our cars is the number of cars that were made - the size of the tuner's market. There are a whole lot more Challengers around than there are M5's. A tuner can amortize the R&D costs over a lot more individual sales. I don't know how many M5's have been made with this engine but in one of the recent three years of M6 production I've read over in the M6 area that there were only something like 240 +/- M6's made one year. I remember flying into Detroit and on the way into town from the airport seeing this sign that showed that year's total car production on a billboard. The number was increasing so fast that it looked like the national debt clock. I checked it again on the way out. It was something like 250,000 were made the week I was there.

GSR Autosport - do you guys tune M6's too?
M5 and M6 are the same engine. So we need ot count both. I am sure there are several more M5s than M6s. My point was not in the production of the vehicles. I got my Challenger done, and was one of the first. It was right when the code was broken originally just like what we have here. All I can say is that time will change things. More and more tuners will be doing this, and the price will drop. Competition will help the consumer. As for Dyno numbers, it's a great baseline, but the track numbers are what counts. If I get beat in a race, I am not gonna say "well my car has more HP" Given that, people will go to the vendor with the fastest time. And right now, that is owned by a piggyback system running a 10.7. I know the tune is safer etc.....Although I have not heard of anyone blowing their engine due to a piggyback yet. Yes, some say plugs get dirtier, but plugs so do not cost an extra 2500 to replace. Right now I have a BMS stage 1. When we get more tuners involved, and I see who is the fastest at the track, I will likely switch. Not that I am a guy at the track every week (maybe once a year), but I find comfort in knowing that my system is one of the proven fastest when I line up next to someone.

For those saying "we all (tuners) share the same files" that's just not the case. We engineer our tunes in-house, all done by our Chief Tuning Guru, Matt Bekam. Yes, he is a real person. If you want to come and observe him extract the file and layer in changes by hand for each car please come on by. As I've said before if you want to go for the cheapest product in town, by all means go ahead, but all tunes are not created equal. The downside of this business is people will start stealing tunes and passing them off as their own. That's when the price wars break out because these "shops" thieving files don't have any R&D costs. Then again you don't no what you might end up with in your car. I recommend to everyone to talk to the person that engineered the tune and ask for references - if that person is non-existent and their references are few and far between. Move on.
This is some great advice. Working with embedded systems myself, I respect the level of complexity that goes into reverse engineering a factory piece of equipment. Its hard enough to have it working right when you have all the documentation you need

Fully agree. Don't be left high and dry especially when you have to go to the lengths to have the car remapped.

Is there any chance of this tune becoming remote in the future?

At the moment security/tamper protection has not been cracked through the OBDII interface so it's impossible to flash without making it obvious that the ECU has been flashed. Unclear how long it is going to take until this is figured out.

You can contact them directly. This forum bans accounts that promote themselves without being a paying sponsor. I think that is the case.
I even get my posts deleted from this forum if I don't watch what I type out.
