Happy Halloween - Or not ...

Haven't been posting a lot lately, sorry guys, work has been crazy. Haven't even had the time to read much, worse!

Just a quick and sad update: My beloved Singapore Bird hit a tree on Friday morning. Halloween hectic with the family and I was stupid enough to jump out of the car on the driveway without properly engaging P (I never use the actual parking brake). So I had backed up onto the driveway to quickly get something that I had forgotten. Ran into the garage, car was facing down the driveway and started rolling. I didn't even realize until seconds later and it was already 30ft away and out of reach. Ran and reached it upon impact with a tree in the front yard.

Still can't fathom my stupidity and haven't cooled down yet. Wanted to take the car to the season finale at NJMP on the 10th with all the new upgrades and improvements. Probably won't see it for another couple of weeks.

Super bummed ...

OMG that's terrible. Fortunately, it appears the damage is just cosmetic.

Sorry to see this. Sucks, but frankly this could happen to anyone. Agree with above that it looks cosmetic and you'll have it back to normal soon.

ouch....

I guess you have to look at it positively, and remind yourself the damage could have been much worse....
By the look of your pics, it appears the hood has not sustaned any damage??
if so, you have to be grateful for that......

I ALWAYS use the parking brake. Regardless of grade it's parked on.

Either way... We're human... Shit happens. It'll be fixed and like new.

Just glad no one was hurt.

Forget about the damage that could have been worse, imagine if someone was hurt or run down. So, no matter what, I think it was a costly incident and makes reminds us all to use that emergency brake the next time we get out of that drivers seat.

Yeah dont sweat it. Between life, work, kids, wife, errands, million things going on, an accident of some sort like this has happened to all of us at least once. That's what insurance is for. Family and you are ok, that's the stuff to worry about. You'll be back on the road in no time.

Completely agree. Everyone ok and one hell of a story to look back and laugh about. Car will be fixed and look perfect. Life happens.

I always use the parking brake on these cars, for this exact reason. Cut out the bumper and take it to the track, then fix it.

Agreed! That really sucks (H)!

I always always set my parking break. Doesn't matter if it's even for only a second. A lot of people don't realize that the parking break disengages automatically when you have your seatbelt on and press on the throttle pedal.

Let me know if you need anything (H).

Sorry to hear man! It's the fault of new technology to spoil us. We all used to use the hand brake to secure the car (and also make the tail happy on turn ) until this e-brake came out
Hope you get your car back soon...

I am scared of exactly this happening in my car. I have driven the M5 with the dual clutch a few times now and still have to get used to the parking function.

Sorry to hear. Glad no one was hurt. Will be back soon!
