Extended Warranty after manufacture has expired

Hi Team

I am looking to purchase BMW M5, most 2013 in my price range are already out of warranty. What do you recommend for getting warranty and any help with rough pricing?

1) Looking at 2013 with 31K miles from private seller. One of the local BMW dealership was quoting 3yr/36K for $5820 with $250 deductible.

2) Looked at 2013 with 26K from Lexus dealer, they are able to sell a platinum warranty with $0 decuctible for $4300 and that's 4yr/48K. But again, they can only sell this if I buy the car from them

Appreciate your help

Did they share with you the warranty company/brand name?

Yes BMW said some aftermarket company, they couldn't offer BMW warrant since manufacturer had expired
The Lexus dealership offered Toyota Financial Services Platimum Care Package

Plus 1 on his advice^

And if it is a Bmw Warranty they are offerring from the dealer for 3/36k i would take that one over any 3rd party warranty.

I'm with you, i'd take the BMW warranty over a 3rd party. I'm in a similar boat. Although my car is under factory warranty still, BMW will not allow me to purchase their extended warranty as the original drive performed his 1200 mile service too late.

Now I'm forced to purchase a 3rd party warranty.

So what happens when our cars become over ten years old and warranty companies won't cover the car? Will most people jump ship and get rid of their M5?

By the time warranty about to expire, you want to just Park it inside garage and never drive it. Lmao

Or get rid of it before warranty expires

I was just at the dealer last week and bought the extended warranty for 3years/75K miles.
My current factory warranty expires in 2 months and instead of going with the BMW Platinum, they offered me Fidelity which is accepted in all BMW dealers according to them. It came out about $1500 cheaper.

Do you know which Fidelity package you picked? And would you be willing to share the name of the dealer and rep you worked with?

I got the Gold Plus which is the package right below the highest package. BUT the coverage on this is better than the BMW Platinum.

I went to Murray BMW in Denver, forgot the girl's name (Finance Manager).

If i would have gotten the extended warranty back in January, it was about $1200 cheaper for the BMW.

I buy my fidelity warranties through Troy.

tdietrich@fd-warranty.com

He must sell them close to cost and always beats dealer pricing.

To make it clear, BMW will not sell BMW warranty if my factory warranty had expired, the 3yr/36K was for some third party warranty they were selling with $250 deductible which for $5820 is expensive I think.

I like the Toyota warranty from Lexus as it's $4300 for 4yr/48K and 0 deductible. Does anyone know if this warranty can be purchased from Lexus if I already own the car or buy it from a private party?

Just like the OP, I recently purchased a 2013 M5 with all the options less night vision including Dinan upgrades with 32K miles. My factory warranty expires in May, 2017. At the time of sale, I also purchased an exclusionary warranty from Zurich for 3 years and 60,000 miles for around $3K with $200 deductible.

This warranty covers everything unless it's noted as part of "what is not covered" which is basically stuff like wind noise, rattles, and routine maintenance items. I believe Zurich has a pretty solid reputation.

Just purchased an extended warranty through USAA. 60months/100k miles for $4900. No deductible. Covers everything that BMW previously covered with the manufacturers warranty. Feel like I got a pretty good deal. Check out USAA if you're able

Edit: 60months from warranty purchase date, 100k on odometer. warrantied through 2022

Also for USAA, you need some connection with Army otherwise cannot qualify

I just did an online quote with USAA, and for 40mo/100k it was $7000. What year is your car?

I will call them tomorrow to confirm if this is accurate or not.

Thanks
Brad

I'm assuming this is prorated and transferrable? If so, it's good insurance, for sure.
