I went full Italian in less than a week

Last weekend it was the CTTS being traded for the new Maserati Quattroporte GTS. Today it was the 991TTS being traded for a 2017 California T HS. Both cars are superb.

Here are some pics, red and black interior on both.

Nice William, what made you finally pull the trigger on the Cali; I know you had been considering for some time now.

Thanks Vic,

I finally cut the quarter miles I wanted with all the mods on the 991 and then I walked in the Austin shop and Erik had this silver 2017 sitting back there with the HS and other options I wanted. He is getting me a backup camera and the homelink mirror for making the deal.

Here is the pump gas county road quarter and then the next week at SAR on race gas. I have the Stage 4 setup from Sambo. I got the 991 where I wanted it and it was time to move on. Since I bought this car new, I can now order a 488 Spyder next year, if I want. I probably will but I haven't told the wife yet. She loves her Quattroporte and I have to say, it's way better than the M5 or the CTTS was, IMO.

The Cali will not be a garage queen, I can already tell it's a drivers car. Plenty fast too.

Thanks, and when my wife first got her CTTS with red and black I didn't like it for about a week but then I started liking it. I just had black in the 991tts but always thought red and black would look good with silver and sure enough, it does and with white too!.

Thanks, I guess patience and continual shopping paid off. You have to go to the dealership with Ferrari to see all the cars and I walk in from time to time. Lucked out big time, he had this one hiding in the back of the showroom when I went in.

Hard to beat red interior, so sexy. I miss mine. Next car, red interior for me. I wanted the blue exterior more this time.

Btw, what made you go for the Mercurio wheels instead of the Titano wheels?

$50k, the 16 was marked down from $155k to $115k. The 17 had the nice wheels but it was $164k. My wife didn't like those wheels but she did like the overhead view camera and the larger screen with the Apple Play in the 17. We both liked the Piano wood over the CF in the 17. In addtion, the 16 had the Bowers and Wilkins system and a wood and leather steering wheel which were better options than what the 17 had. Those wheels were a $4000 option on the 17. The ones on the 16 look OK though so while I would rather have he Titano, I saved a lot of $ that made the Cali an easier purchase. They told me that adding the Titano after would cost around $12,000.

My guess is the Maserati will be the first to disappoint....and then there is the 488.

All of the above when it comes to the Maserati.

As for the Ferrari, I think both performance and reliability compared with what he had before. My view is that the California is really a Maserati with a Ferrari badge. It's not engineered he same way as a 488 or a GTC4Lusso.

Ah...

I guess different strokes for different folks.........because imho, I would personally choose the Quattroporte GTS V8 over say a BMW 750Li (G12) or an Audi A8 with the 4.0 V8.

In any case, let's take a more positive note and be happy and respectful for the purchase choices that OP has made.

Peace

I definitely prefer the Maserati QP over the 750. Looks wise, it's not even close. Not sure about the options and features, bmw probably has the Maser beat, but the physical beauty of the Maserati its a compelling argument. 750, I do like it, quite a bit, but if I were in the market for a luxury sedan I'd explore other options. The 750 doesn't excite me near as much the machines from the M division. Now, throw that M badge on it, and it's a closed deal. I know, they are diluting the M brand... But if all the M cars are performers, I could care less.

The tech is better on the German car but not even close on the styling. The leather in the QP is really supple and the color combo is great. The Maserati is a better car to drive and to ride in and with the 523hp V8 it has plenty of passing power. My wife likes it better than her Cayenne and that's saying something. As to reliability, we shall see but my experience with BMW is not good on that score. With Porsche, no problems. Mercedes isn't something we are interested in and so this car makes a lot of sense for the point in the market we were seeking. I can revisit the thread in a year and give an update but so far, the Italian garage is meeting all expectations and we don't miss the Porsches.

Most of these points apply to the Quattroporre too.

Actually they don't ( to be fair, the button stuff is true and the gearshift lever is quirky). This guy can only rent the car and he is knocking it? LOL!

But like I said earlier, I got it for $40k off sticker, NEW. I can live with some ass-clowns like this knocking the Ghibli which isn't even the same car. My wife's car at MSRP is almost twice the Ghibli. The car gets parked at the front of the valet line with Bentleys. Here are a couple of shots my daughter sent me from the Del Frisco's in Dallas on Friday night when she and my wife were at dinner. Valet services don't share the same view as you or this thirty something loser who reviews cars he can't afford.

ETA:
Most important reviewer is my wife who loves the car and doesn't regret getting rid of her CTTS at all. She says this is the best car she has ever owned.
