Well I have an update everyone. I got a call today that the police have identified the perpetrator in the vandalism of my M5. They have already issued a warrant for an arrest. The police were able to give me detailed information on what happened the night of the vandalism. The great news is that the vandalism was not a targeted attack against me or my M5. Instead it was a completely random act of vandalism. The perpetrator got drunk at a local bar that night and vandalized a few vehicles in the garage where I live where mine was the most heavily damaged. It turns out that later that night he was actually arrested for public intoxication. It took so long to identify him because of the back log at the forensics lab in running the fingerprints they got off of my M5. Like I said, he left fingerprints literally all over my car. The vandal was actually just visiting the area where I live and he resides out of state, so once the police find and arrest him and bring him back to VA, I can press charges. I can rest a lot easier now knowing that it was not a targeted attack. I was worried that it would happen again. Even though I have no known enemies where I live. So hopefully, justice will be served soon.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for their support and sympathy/empathy over the last few months. It made it much easier dealing with this situation. Thank you all.

What a great relief. Good to know. Now we only have to get through the next four months to finally to get to enjoy our cars again (albeit, they might have turned into F80s by then ;-)

So glad to hear the update, @RPiM5

Glad to hear they know who it is and hope they can find him, then prosecute. It was difficult to comprehend why someone would do this when I read your original post and now even more so. A random batshit drunk? Geez, I hope you're able to get some justice.

Thanks man. Got any free time this week or next month. I'd still like to come up and visit. I have a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving.

Sorry to hear this news, the update is the best possible outcome though, knowing it was not born of any personal grudge.

Onwards and upwards.

Now you have to make some friends in local jail and make sure when the douchebag gets there he will get "special soap dropping" treatment every day.
