Congrats! I remember the day of my delivery as if it were yesterday (took delivery on the 16th of this month).

Enjoy and remember to work that engine well to break it in nicely w/o violating the guidelines.

Oh I'm going to baby this thing for the first 1200 miles...lol

The dealership I purchased from has an Imperial Blue M5 that they let me test drive. It already had over 300 miles so I'm assuming they're letting people drive it left and right...I can only imagine the torture that car is going through. Feel bad for whoever buys that one. I told my sales rep that nobody is allowed to touch my car when it comes in

It's good to drive it at varying speeds to ensure the pistons create a nice ring seal - these are performance machines. I'd say run it hard without breaking it. my 2 cents.

I've broken in several new engines on Drag race cars... And I've always been told to drive them hard... I think the don't go beyond 5K rpm is a bit too much... I do highway driving, city driving and performance driving on the weekends in curly roads at the forest. I have only 600kms to go or so... too bad winter is coming soon... and lots of snow....

MCB with black interior. pretty standard options. it's actually on dealer's stock order list, so I only have to wait 5 weeks.

Well said. Drive it close to the limits/guidelines set by BMW to ensure a proper seal and reduce engine issues over the long haul.

the guys at M studio said don't worry about the engine.. more so bedding in the brakes and take care of the M differential for break-in. 155mph on autobahn worked for me...

How would one "take care of the M differential"?

Good question, but perhaps no starts with 'launch control'? Otherwise, with the DCT at least, the transmission shifts are smooth and don't give the driveline any harsh shocks. I wonder if taking turns at a high rate of speed, with some sliding involved, would put extreme loads on the diff before it was worn in properly?

I'm fairly certain that LC is disabled until the break-in service is performed. If so, that would eliminate the possibility of untimely thrashing the differential. I haven't attempted LC yet but my maintenance is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Perhaps a dramatic exit from the dealership lot is in order...
