Still unconfirmed/TBD so I wouldn't count on it. BMW said that an M7 is not needed (similar to Audi stating that they can't make an RS8). We'll see.

However, I think the 760Li M SPORT is confirmed for the next-gen. Thank God the V12 engine will make it on the G11 =)

I find the 7 series and S class V12s disappointing. They don't perform any better than the V8. A B7 outperformed a 760, and same thing with S63 and S65

I would always prefer the V12s to the V8. Interestingly this is the same dilemma that I notice when people say that they prefer the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 over the W12 engine.

I do admire VAG and the work that they've done with their 4.0 liter unit.

HOWEVER

For me:
Bentley Continental GT Speed W12 (2014) > Bentley Continental GT V8 S

The advantage of a lighter engine may manifest on a racetrack..........but in city driving as well as motorway sprints, CYLINDER COUNT AND DISPLACEMENT IS KING hehe.

Also in the sound and exhaust department, this principle holds true. I think using Ferrari as an example, we can compare the exhaust note of an FF (V12 NA) vs a 458 (V8 NA) versus the less enthusiastic exhaust sound of a California T (V8 Turbo)

Anyways that's just my opinion. =)

just quietly the v8 S sounds a lot better than the w12 , manufacturers just don't put the same effort in the v12 anymore unless your talking about Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Bentley is the exception. Their W12 significantly outperforms the V8.

But in the case of the S65 - their own acceleration stats suggest it's slower. The HP increase is insufficient to offset the additional weight, plus the S65 has an inferior gearbox to the S63.

I mean if you want the creaminess of a V12 that's a different story. But then a Mercedes-Maybach S600 would make more sense than an S65. Or even better - a Ghost.

Hehe at least we agree on that =)

Bentley further increased the performance for the MY2014 Continental GT Speed W12. Increase in power by 10 HP and increase in torque by 20 Newton Meters. Those upgrades alone give a stronger case to choose it over the V8 S.

You must be referring to the old W221 where the S65 had a 5-speed automatic (because their 7-speed unit back then couldn't handle the torque).

This new S65 (W222/V222) now has a 7-speed unit as MB spent extra R&D and engineering to handle those 1,000 Newton Meters of torque =)

With that said, I do love the Coupe Version - S65 AMG COUPE

Now THAT V12 BITURBO IS LOUD =)
