I am working on a special tour of BMW M Gmbh. (something that needs to be specially arranged - and it's a 15 minute cab ride from the Welt/Factory fyi).

Target date and time is 2:30pm on 8/31 (i.e. after the standard Friday factory tour that many of us will likely attend). I have been told to be patient, but that something will very likely happen.

I've already come across a posting that the board owner - Jason - is also working on some stuff - I have a feeling that will be in harmony with whatever my excellent and well-connected CA and I am able to accomplish.

I'll get on the soapbox one minute - I've done this ED thing a few times before and the one thing that people tend to miss that is a big mistake - is going through the museum. It's really a spectacular museum. Plan an hour for it sometime during your time there. - ok I'm off my soapbox.

Are people leveraging the Log Out GMBH shuttle service from the airport to their respective hotels? I see in the email confirmation I got from BMW that there is a service but costs 60 Euro's.

Also I see a thread for checklist for delivery day but what about prior to ED? For example, passports, contacting your drop off center to schedule pickup, airport transfers, etc...

Prior to ED and upon arrival at Munich Airport (Franz Josef Strauss) one can avail of transfers using taxis, car service or even limo service. Several hotels also ran a shuttle service. Since most people in this forum seem to be going to the Marriott, I believe that hotel has a shuttle service to/from airport. Personally, I have contacted a car service company for the same price as a one way taxi ride to the hotel about 60/65 Euros (per person).

Just pm the info. I don't know how good they are as this will be the first time I will be using them though the service was recommended by a friend who had a good experience with their driver who patiently waited and meet them outside the arrival area.

Should we start a separate thread for travel arrangement stuff and keep this one to a likely gathering of us all on 8/31?

I wanted to circle back on this thread. I dont want to hijack or try to step on toes of anyone planning this but I was given a recommendation of the following restaurant for dinner. Restaurant 181 is located in the Olympic Tower right across the street from the Welt. This is a revolving restaurant and could provide great aerial coverage of the Welt. Thoughts? I know we will need to make reservations.

My favorite restaurant would be Grunwalder Einkehr. It is in a residential area of Munich, but it is a very authentic high end German restaurant - with Bavarian style decor in an Inn style building. Food is Michelin star worthy imo.

About the tours -
1) Are you guys who are arranging something special e.g. the M Studio tour, going to do so on behalf of all of us so we can all attend?
2) Factory Tour - Can someone arrange a factory tour for 8/31 in the afternoon for all of us? Usuallly with Saturday deliveries there won't be a factory tour.

I assume you planning a dinner for the evening of 8/31 based on a previous thread. However, I'm arriving the morning of the first so would be interested if you were planning drinks/dinner for Saturday (9/1) evening.

1) Yes, trying. Checked in on this last week and was told to stay tuned. I don't think we'll hear anything for another month at least.
2) Factory Tour on 8/31 is 11 or 11:30am. That's the normal tour. You can email the Welt to get on the list. Some of us already are. The afternoon of that day is what we're thinking about for the private M-Studio tour.

Thanks. I have emailed the factory to get on the tour. We land at 730am, so I don't know if my family will be up for this, but it's always good to have the reservation.

Just wanted to revive this thread. Do we have an idea of who is interested in dinner on 8/31? Maybe we go to one of the restaurants in The Welt?

The Welt only has 1 restaurant and I'm not sure it's the best option for this. My vote is for Augustiner or Seehaus for beer, then dinner at Brenner. For 8/31.

That works for me. Do you want to start compiling a list of attendees at the top of the thread?

Good idea. When I get home (I.e. off the smartphone) I'll redo the first post.
