So all I can say is bleedin hell what a machine! Will post initial photos/thoughts asap.

Having now driven 500 miles in all conditions/styles it is crazy how mental/relaxed/comfortable and full of the best tech on the road this car is - cant think of any faults so far except the iDrive screen/system has randomly re-booted while driving twice??

wow, competition pack == different car. Did 200 miles around town in and out of streets etc. Superb.

can't believe how sharp the cornering is and how reduced body roll is, definitely worth the dosh IMO, and I didn't take it out of comfort mode!!!

pics tomorrow, got home too late

Neil.

Fantastic Neil,
Sounds great. Had the chance to drive a 997 Turbo S PDK today, and although it was quicker than my M5, i would choose my car all day, every day. Im coming to the conclusion, that there is no substitute for this car, and at its price point, it is astonishing value. Looking forward to some photos.

Congrats on new car. Glad to read another CP owner expressing a significant difference in chassis feel on road compared to pre-lci.

W.r.t. comfort mode, try Sport+ steering; as soon as you turn a corner mine feels like the front wheels have been set in cement!

I like the fact that default comfort settings are about right for 95% of UK roads for those of us looking for a more 'sports orientated M5'. Having said that I have found comfort dampers a bit soft on some motorway slip roads. Will try out firmer settings via M1 & M2 once I've had the 1200 service.

What are your thoughts on the sports exhaust? I initially thought it a bit tame whilst I was babying the car, but some harder driving has revealed it can be quite loud with a thunderous quality. Quite an improvement on the pre-lci for me.

Compared with pre-lci some other things I've noticed but have not mentioned to date are, slightly reduced tyre roar (although still much noisier than a non-M F10), less traction issues in normal driving & acceleration in all settings feels more urgent (thought the torque changes were at the top end, so could be down to how the pre-lci demo cars had been run in, or perhaps I've got a 'Monday' engine/transmission, albeit a few faults elsewhere).

My sales manager also has AW CP with black 343Ms (love the matt finish) & LEDs - looks great in person.

I agree that I would also struggle to live with a 3dr Porsche as an 'everyday car', however, would be great as a 2nd car to the M5 (991 gt3 still at the top of my wish list). Would be great for on-road chassis feel (the 981 felt unbelievably rigid, so can't begin to imagine what a gt3 will feel like), if not for extra performance. Considering how infrequently I drive the M5, I cannot justify it. In a similar vein, would also like to drive a nissan gtr, however, doubt if I would want to own one. Happy with the M5 as a relatively discrete performance car experience (at least when comparing to dedicated sports cars).

Glad the car is working out Neil.
Not wishing to poor water on the CP, but my LCI is an improvement over the pre-LCI in steering feel and general handling also.
