g30 m5
Where is the next version of this great forum gonna for the next generation G30 m5. I wanted to check or get any information on the next platform.
Recently got rid of my F10 and i am eagerly awaiting the introduction of the new E63S and G30 m5. I've always been a die hard bmw guy with many M5's in the past, but as of late you can't help but notice the design of MB and especially it's interiors. Both will be super handling and performing luxury saloons, but i feel the design direction bmw is heading towards is very timid and honestly not too different from the F10 it's replacing where MB i must admit do have nice drastic changes from generation to generation.

0-60 and 1/4 mile are good criteria but I am looking at 60-130 or 100-200 (km/h) which shows the actual powertrain /suspension. F90 will definitely smoke many cars in rolling ...

The F10 M5 was introduced in September 2011 at the Frankfurt motor show. Went on sale in November 2011 with North American deliveries beginning in May / June 2012. European delivery started in September 2012.
If the F90 M5 follows the same schedule it should be introduced this September with the first deliveries taking place in May / June 2018.

I doubt that f90 will be fast above 100km/h because has slow automatic transmission and all wheel drive system

I really hope they don't ditch the DCT. That is my favorite part of the F10. If they go to an auto the RS7, E63, and M5 will all be twin turbo V8s with all wheel drive and auto trans. Talk about having limited options.

There's an article posted on G30 / M5 section that claims the M5 is switching to automatic.
http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...05&postcount=6 I don't think anyone has confirmed this. I recall reading a while back that some markets would still get a RWD only M5. I wonder if there will be two M5's: RWD with DCT and; AWD with auto. At first look it honestly sounds like a step backwards. I'm no transmission expert but perhaps the requirement to have an option to go 100% RWD on the AWD model was impossible / impractical with the DCT. Or the power / torque ratings will be too high for a DCT. Clearly AWD and DCT are possible. Porsche does it.

The DCT was one of the best features that made the F10 stand on it's own vs. the E63, and the fact that it was RWD

X5M/X6M are heavy cars and to be honest with you I have no idea why they are carrying M badge but AT may work on those SUVs but not sport cars like M5/M6

I believe the DCT with longer gear will be much better transmission if it can hold more torque

I think you need to go and test drive one of them balls out if you have not, stock car is very good and fun to drive, as awd is not 50/50 distribution. It oversteers easily in both mdm and dsc off mods. Stage 2 x6m can be as fast as stock m5 f10 100-200 and way faster 0-62 due better traction off the line. I have seen them as low 3.3 0-62 verified on stage 2. It is a very well deserved M badged car imo. I am sure next m5 will be as much fun to drive as current one, no matter what combination of rwd/awd/at/dct we get. We will eventually get used it and get over it. None of us could ever imagine TTV8 instead of NAV10. We still talk about it, but each set up has its own advantage and we will never get what we want 100% match as it would never ever comply with rules and regulation in 21st century... |

I was thinking of the Panamera with PDK / AWD (4, 4S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S)

EDIT: Ok I found it for Turbo. It's 770 NM (560 ft-lp) and the power is 550 hp . I believe the current MDCT can hold this torque/power

There is a ton of tuned guys here pushing tons of torque on the DCT with the SSP/Dodson clutch pack...so obviously the DCT can handle the torque, it's the clutches that can't.
My question is, why don't they just upgrade the clutch pack from the factory instead of switching to an AT? |

Also, the main concern is safety issue which must be taken to the account. The broken transmission at high speed is a disaster and no one wants to take that liability without enough homework. There is a huge difference between a well known auto maker and those people who tune their car at their own responsibility...
