That's a nasty turn on the Ring.

brunnchen 2 is a nasty nasty turn.

depending on the car its a 3rd or 4th gear turn. very high speed perfect apex. the exit falls away. in this case the taxi driver was probably less than 6 inches too early on turn in. back left tire touches the super slick cement on left while its fully loaded and it pitches the car. when it does you are a passenger. nothing can be done to correct it at that speed. thats all it takes. these guys are pro's and even they make mistakes. the GT2 behind him probably was noted but not a factor in making this mistake.

this turn kills the most motorcyclists as well.

its better to just turn in later shift down to third. slightly late apex and give your self a more straighter approach up towards eis curve. better with high hp cars and especially when its wet.

I was just going to say. I'm not sure if it's the toughest corner or if it's just a good place for spectators to video but it seems most of the Nurburgring crashes are on this corner. Even pros crash.

Looked fine right up until the left rear hit the bricks on the edge of the track.

The very first time I ran on the Ring, I pulled up and the track was temporarily closed due to an accident. While waiting for it to reopen and to buy my lap tickets, the tow truck carrying the car and an ambulance (non-emergency) rolled by. It really messes with your nerves, especially when it's your first time there. It just reminded me that this track needs to be respected.

During that wait is when I also met Sabine back when she drove for those BMW taxis, so it wasn't all that bad, haha.

Yeah that sucks. Would love to do an ED and take my delivery on the ring just to say that I did... Makes renting seem like a better idea.

What insurance options are available for the ring when doing an ED.

Ever done a track day? Just take it easy and yield to faster traffic. You don't have to prove anything to anyone -- it's the hardest frigging track on the planet.

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone's developed an iPhone app or something to be a veritable "codriver" for this track (handing you speeds/gears to be in for the various turns). If not, maybe I should jump on it before my trip.

I've seen videos where the M5 simply hauls a$$ down the ring. Add 4 passengers and that 4300lb is probably close to 5000.

Looking at the other videos recommended by You Tube at the end of this one, it seems this isn't the first time a BMW Ring taxi had crashed!

ha, i'm sure she had a few incidents while piloting the ring taxi herself.

folks its not IF you will have an incident there. its WHEN... drive it long enough and it will happen. no matter how slow you go. and long enough could be your 1000th lap or your first.

if you aren't comfortable with the very likely possibility you can have a bad day there then i advise hanging out at devils diner instead

It was the Porsche Club of Poland behind the taxi. Simply to much pressure on the taxi driver...

Brunchen II is always a challenge, just like the similar uphill right just before Brunchen I / Esbach coming out of Wipperman.
Maybe that one's even tougher as it goes off camber.

Well anyways, seems like not much happened, and he hardly, if at all countersteered.
The many crashes there usually come from catching the first step out from the rear, then snap oversteering the other way.

It almost looks like he just let it go, which will likely not be the case, but sure looks like.

Sabine followed by GT3 (although driving an E39 or E60 on the limit is a very different prospect to an F10): -
