Climate Comfort Windshield

Does anyone know if the Climate Comfort Windshield can be ordered in the USA?

It seems when you search for windshield for HUD, there is a version with climate control p/n 51317280748 and one without climate comfort p/n 51317280744.

The latter part is the only one which shows up when you search the parts system in a US dealer.

No. It just blocks infrared and therefore lets in less heat.

The climate comfort glass is DOT legal because the 750i ActiveHybrid uses it in the US. However based on my search of part numbers, the US M5 does not have this type of windshield, just the standard glass which lets in more heat.

This will be good for me to know, in case that little chip turns into a giant crack.

Are u saying the car comes with this standard, but we may not be able to re-order it?

No I'm saying we don't have it on our cars, but we may be able to upgrade to it in the event of needing to replace the windshield.

BMW may only choose to carry the one type for simplification as already they have one for HUD and non-HUD cars. So, this would have meant setting up another part for a low take rate (based on cost - which I assume would be more).

If they are anything like the AMG glass, the car is almost like a faraday cage.

you can order it . I almost did when I needed a replacement but decided against it for two reasons
One was possible lead time if I need another replacement (it won't be stocked the in the US)
and the other reason has been due to several folks in Europe complaining about night visibility with
the comfort windshields. The additional coating seems to cause a streaking effect in particular from
oncoming cars with LED/HID headlights in rainy conditions

Hey Euro Dudes - can any of you comment on this night visibility issue?
