recommended shift points? (MT)

Does anyone actually use these at all? After this morning's commute I have disabled this.

For kicks, I tried to do my morning commute by the recommended shift points, which are usually at 1500 rpms. I think it's to maximize fuel economy and to not engage the turbos but these shift points are totally useless. My cayenne has recommended points but are not this drastic. I don't think this saves significant fuel.

I couldn't do it. I've never driven a Prius before, but the crazy BMW engineer that wanted to make the M5 drive like one must have been smoking green rather than trying to save green.

I immediately disabled the feature, I do not shift that quickly.

The recommended shift points are designed to maximize fuel efficiency and will produce better mileage but at the expense of the quality of my driving experience.
