Loss of Power
I have recently experienced a loss of power in my M5. I have no messages or faults in the diagnostics and the dealer is saying there are not faults when they checked it. However, the loss of power is noticeable to me when I accelerate on 2nd or 3rd in the past with Sport Plus and traction off, the wheels use to spin. Now I can only get it to do so on first gear and the torque is not as it use to be. I have had the Akrapovic exhaust on for 3 months with no problems and I don't think that is the issue. Also, I checked on the lines connecting to the exhaust valves and they are fine.
Has anyone experienced this before? |

no its been going on for a while and the car is not powerless its just not as responsive. Its like the car is working on less power than efficient mode while on sport plus.

The dealers checked the fuel pumps, fuel filters and changed the spark plugs with no success. Could it be fuel related? Maybe the last gas station I visited mixed up 95 octane with 91? Would that cause immediate performance drop?

I think it sounds like a programming issue. If your in sports plus and the car feels like in efficient, it might be something not letting the car get into sports plus all the way.
Also might be fuel. |

wasn't there another thread like this on the forum about 6 months ago? might be worth trawling through the threads - I seem to remember they replaced the ECU.

Wow what a bmw community. You would think some one from the BMW community would help each other out. Guess I have to just sell the car and take a loss. Lol and I was looking at the GTR and this m5. Should have taken the Nissan, at least it wouldn't have these many issues as the m5. BMW sucks as a reliable car manufacturer. Never again, Japanese automobile all the way. STI here I come

Go take it for a dyno to prove your theory. They should be able to see by logging why you are losing power. Then bring the facts to BMW to get it taken care of. Lots of items could cause this.

Ya that's my goal. The shop that i got it done before is too busy and keep telling me to come back next day. The reason I wanted to bring it to them was because it's the same dyno and shop. So the dealer can't say it's different machine orAny good Dyno jet shops in the 5 borough

Update took the car back to show the Forman the Dyno sheet and explain. Dealer tells me you wish you had those Dyno net numbers, I'm like WTF, I told him we all know this car is under rated from the factory. He think this car should be near 350 HP and round 300 TQ I'm like no your wrong. I tell him to look online and see what people cars are putting out. He's like don't bleave those forum guys they don't know what there talking a out. So I get mad and spaz out and make a scene.
Then a day later I get a drive trans malfunctions |

Just so every ones knows BMW NA and I have spoken over the phone and all they say is if our dealer Tech tells its ok then its ok. So I wont be wishing a miracle. At least I can show the whole world, that BMW NA doesn't care about its customer. Last edited by SHIFT4SPEED; 04-26-2015 at 09:40 AM.. |
