Opti-Guard Black ?

I hate black cars.... my wife wants a black QX. Will Opti-Guard prevent swirls????? or minimize ?

We do only hand washes never through machines.

It reduces swirling but doesn't prevent it. This said, Infiniti has a self healing clear coat so it may not need it.

The paint Sucks on my 2010 G37. There's nothing "self healing" about it. It's just a marketing gimmick...

This will be our first Infinity.

Stealth thanks for the info on the paint, I was not aware of that.

Rohardi - Thanks for the info as well. I will call up one of the two Opti-Guard guys here in Houston.

I paid $600 for the M5 to get the Opticoat. Remember that preparation is very important when using this product; make sure your installer isn't shortcutting this (most) important step.

That seems cheap. My optiguard guy spent 11 hrs doing a full paint correction before applying the optiguard.

Depends on your swirl tolerance. If you want it to look perfect you need paint correction in addition to washing before optiguard is applied.

When shopping around for Opti-Coat, make sure your installer is using Opti-Coat PRO, not Opti-Coat 2.0. There is a difference, OCP is more durable than the 2.0 and can only be installed by authorized dealers.

As far as the price, it seems incredibly low. Authorized detailers for OCP have to sign waivers which stipulate the minimum price that is to be charged, just for applying the coating. At $400 (for everything) they would would not be following the regualtions put in place.

I charge roughly (depends on condition of vehicle) $850 to detail a vehicle and apply OCP. Anyone can apply the coating, but only the true professionals can be trusted to properly prep (wash/decontaminate/polish) the vehicle to get the most out of the coating. Once applied, the car must be thoroughly inspected to ensure there is full coverage and no high spots. Getting your car detailed is like everything else, you get what you pay for.
