storing car for winter...

Guys, i'm about to store my car for next 5 months but the garage will not be accessible and thus I will not be able to start the car at all during these 5 months.
would you say that this will be bad for motor/injectors etc?
your opinion pls!
thanks!

M5 starage

All I'll do is get the battery charger ( tender care ) on.
Start it up few times in winter and let it run for a good 1/2 hour. I've changed the oil already ( dealer did ) , and hope that winter will be over soon ( March ).

I know that our cousins to the south have still another two months of driving and ... in late February they are back on the road.... not here though.

I'll be happy to get it our in April and put it away in November.

But still love it for what it is.

don't do this if the car is in the garage. if you do this outside it's no problem.

Mine is going for the long sleep next week. Usually October - April. March if I am lucky.

I haven't had any problems, not even with with battery. But my storage is heated. I will usually make an effort to start it in December.

When I bring it out in the spring I will drive off the old gas as soon as possible.

I do the following:
1 change oil
2 clean and detail the car
3 fill tank up with 93 octane and add stabil.
4. Slightly overinflated tires
5. Put plastic tarp on ground.
6. Park car
7. Hook up battery tender
8. Put car cover on

I never ever start it. I just let it sleep until it's warm enough to take out. I have never had a problem.

+1

I've done the same as above for my Boxster for the last 13 years. I also plug a towel in the exhaust. Make sure you wait for the exhaust to cool before you cover it to or youll melt the cover on the tailpipe. Come spring pull the cover off, deflate the tires and your ready to go. Oh and unplug the exhaust. Some folks put mothballs under the car to deter critters.

guys believe it or not you should not start the car, do everything stated above add fuel stabilizer and thats it. when you start the car it will cause moisture and condensation.

wait what? my car is in storage but i start her up once a week and let it run for about 15 min so the battery doesn't die.

you should use a trickle charger, if you let it sit in cold climates of course all that moisture you see then freezes so its better not to start it at all if the car is sitting. If you drive it every now and then different story

So would it be safe just to disconnect the battery all winter long if it's just sitting in storage?
