I'm running through tires like crazy living here.

I'm getting tired of this shit. Literally.

This is the second good tire I have had to throw away now because of these damned DC and East Coast streets and roads due to excessive wear down to the chord.

I'm putting on my winter tires today and when the tech removed the summer tires, we discovered that one of my front tires has been worn down to the chord due to a bad alignment. Earlier this year I had to completely replace one of my control arms due to it being bent by these horrible DC streets. I had a fresh alignment when I got the control arm replaced and everything was in spec not more than 6 months ago. Now I find that it's all messed up again and I have to throw an otherwise perfectly good tire away.

The good news is that I am 90% sure I'm going to be moving out of DC next spring, so I won't have to deal with this any more, but I'm still not sure where I'll be moving to.

But now for next spring I'm going to need 2 new front tires. I just hope that Michelin PSS's will be in stock at that time.

I'm not quite ready to get rid of my M5 yet. I need to find out where I'm moving to and get settled down first. For now though, what an ass pain. I'm almost upset that I got rid of my second car last year but I wouldn't be able to move next year if I hadn't gotten rid of it. Hopefully I'll be moving back to SoCal. We shall see my friends.

Very frustrated,

Come on down to Atlanta...roads are fabulous....and since you are used to the traffic in DC- Atlanta won't be so bad after all.

Side note- I drove my car down from Boston to Atlanta when we moved in August. Those highways that are in/around D.C should all be blown up and repaved. I think I felt my ass (my literal ass) hit the ground at least 10 times going through there. Terrible.

I feel sorry for you, but I think I warned you that an M5 was not a good car to own in a place like D.C. IIRC, I told you to sell the M5 and keep the Abarth . If I moved back to D.C., I would get something cheap as my daily driver (like a 328 m sport or 535 m sport). D.C. just kills high performance cars like the M5. Also, I would never own a nice car in D.C....I would lease it and be able to give it back. Three years of getting beat up by D.C. roads is long enough to make the car start falling apart.

Thanks guys. Yeah about a year and a half ago I seriously considered getting rid of the M5, but then I decided to hold on to it for just a little while longer because I knew I was going to be moving. This is a pain in the ass now, but will be worth it when I move to somewhere more favorable to high performance cars.

Maybe it's the alignment shop to blame after you got the new control arm?

what tire pressures are you running? That does look like a bad alignment issue.

Texas IMO has the best freeways and we do it big down here when it comes to cars.

Running stock pressure as always. My wheels are also pretty wrecked. If I decide to keep the F10 M5, I'll be making some big improvements in the future. Doubt I'll be getting the next Gxx M5 though. It's already disappointing me. 570S is now on my radar after watching some videos on it.

I remember back in 2008 driving through DC from FL en route to CT with my brand 750i Sport. I hit a pothole on I95 and thought I had at least two blowouts and two flats. It was criminal. With the taxes you guys pay around that area it is unreal how they can't keep your roads in decent shape. Worse than NYC.

Why not put the OEM 19" wheels and tires on your boat? They should hold up well, no?

Dave I'm in the same boat as you. Today I took my car in for a oil change and found out I too need new fronts. Cords on both showing on an otherwise good tire. It's a shame we don't have camber adjustment. I thought my alignment was good also. I still should be able to get 5k out of them if it weren't for the cords. I'll text you pics about 8a your time. I'm pretty pissed also as these tires aren't cheap. As I've told you before, come on down to Houston. We will show you a great time. Raumy is right about our roads. And we have a HUGE car scene

Dave. Just had to replace all four tires on my M5. What a nightmare! Tires for this car at the present moment are non-existent. No joke. I called every dealer that I have a relationship with in mass, RI and Florida as well as tirerack and discount tire. No complete matching sets are available period!!! No PSS, or P zeros.

I ended up going with the same size and load rating p zeros made for a jaguar XJR from tirerack. That was my only choice! Had them installed yesterday and all is good. Just figured you'd like to know.

Damn, that sux! Just got your text too. You running stiffer sway bars too? I forget. I think the sway bars might have something to do with it.

Yes I'm using same sways as you. I agree on the sways. It might be the culprit. I can switch them back to oem and see.

I think the right thing for you to do Dave is get a second vehicle.... you strike me as having a need for something that will overcome potholes with ease yet still be very desirable. Have you considered the new Ford Raptor? Remember, "winter is coming..."
