Need advice - moving to Denver

Hey Guys
Need some advice from our friends in the forum who know or live in Denver. I am starting a new job in a few weeks and relocating from CT to CO. Shipping my M5 to Denver in a few weeks and I may need to have it delivered to the local BMW dealership given my travel plans. I also want to start a relationship with the dealership in town.
So, there three BMW dealerships in Denver and I would like to see if you all have any recommendations on which one to use that is really M smart and understanding of the mods and work we do. Like I have the BMS tune...

3 Dealers are:
Murray BMW of Denver
Gebhardt BMW
Schomp BMW Highland Road

Thanks for the advice and help. I will probably live near Westminster or Evergreen but not sure..
Look forward to meeting forums folks in Denver. Also does the altitude affect the cars performance?

My in-laws live in Denver.

I do not care for Murray BMW at all. I have tried buying cars from them in the past. They are a part of the Sonic group, so there is no negotiating and their prices are very high.

In my opinion, any dealership owned by the Sonic group is very difficult to deal with and their prices are very high. I avoid them.

I remember from my 335i days that Schomp was good to work with, I have not heard good things about Murray.

There is a strong bmw group in Denver and they often make the point that turbocharged engines are affected less by altitude.

Great city, good luck!

Boosted engines maintain HP at altitude as compared to NA engines. The waste gates control the intake charge pressure over ambient, whereas a NA engine is at the mercy of atmospheric pressure.

In theory, you could climb high enough where the turbos couldn't "keep up" if the air grows too thin, but in Denver you should be okay - in your car at least. Now your baking, that's a different story.

I own an F10 M5 and I am located near Denver Tech Center.

I purchased from Schomp BMW, and get all my service work done there and have never had an issue. They are very accommodating (took the beast to get oil change this week, drove home, and measured oil level and it said I was at the very minimum. I called them and they offered to send oil out to me that hour, but it ended up being a calibration issue with the electronic measuring that they fixed).

Ive been wanting to do downpipes and BMS and I asked the service adviser about them and he didn't seem to know very much on the matter. He basically told me that if its not BMW made it could void the warranty if there happens to be an issue....
I know you can remove the BMS device so I don't think that would be a problem...
The mechanics at Schomp would probably know a lot more about the mods.

I agree I hate sonic. I purchased my car out of state to avoid their robbery.

Absolutely. Denver is a great city.

Best of luck with your move. I foresee making the move there at some point as well.

I live in Boulder and Gebhardt has been good. I went through 4 service advisers before I found Joel Ortiz. The guy is very into aftermarket performance and gets the allure of the M5. I've never had a problem there.

Evergreen is beautiful but don't plan on driving the M5 in the winter all the way to Denver! Westminster is suburbia. You should check out Boulder (about 20 minutes from Westminster and absolutely gorgeous). Only 3 F10 M5s in town.

Here's the thread about Murray that was posted about a year ago:

This is an email I wrote to the GM and have yet to hear a response. **BTW The sales manager Chris Neira is a complete jerk. He tried to sneak in the extended maintenance plan and so I spent 45 minutes going back and forth because the numbers kept being off. He self-admittedly said he was doing so because the dealership makes $600 profit off the plan and that he knew I would come back in a few years to trade-in the car so he wanted to re-sell the car with the plan. Afterwards, he tried to high pressure close me on EVERYTHING. I told him to back off because I was getting pissed so he apologized. Chris explained he was doing so because he had a $100 bet with a co-worker on how fast he could sell the car. This guy is the epitome of a dirty used car salesman. At this point I am warning others to not purchase or have a vehicle serviced at Murray!!!

Rax,

I'd like to share the poor experience I've had thus far since purchasing a vehicle from Murray BMW. When I went to pickup the car and sign paperwork, the car was not ready. There was still spots of compound on the car from the detail job so I had to wait until it was finished. Then when I signed paperwork with the finance department, the lady forgot to have me sign the $500 rebate form. Since I had already left, she had to email me the form and then I had to fax it back to her. Another issue is when I went to put the floormats in my car- there were only three of them! I had to come back to the dealership to get a complete set. The final straw was when I went to the DMV last week (5/16) to purchase license plates. I waited two hours only for the woman working there to tell me I need to get an emissions testing. No one from your team cared to explain that this needed to be done! This should have already been done before I took ownership of the vehicle! What happens if the vehicle doesn't pass emissions? I contacted your sales team right after this happened, and nobody has cared to respond with a resolution hence why I am writing you.

I have completely lost my patience thus far with Murray BMW. I especially feel this when I receive mailings and emails from Murray to purchase an extended warranty plan. I am customer of Bodyworks and had $8,000 in repairs from two accidents. Then I purchase a vehicle from Murray and this is the way I'm treated and the type of service I get? It was already bad enough when I felt like I didn't get a fair trade-in. I thought it would be ok because the service would make up for it. I couldn't have been more wrong. Please help me feel differently. I feel as though my business is unappreciated.

Sincerely,
Jon

Thanks M8 for the scoop on Murray, not good. Boulder is very cool and pretty similar to Burlington,VT which is where
we have family. I like the feel of the area for sure.
I really have to do a whole lot more looking around for sure. My M is shipping out in a few weeks to CO and I will send you a PM at some point to take the Ms for a run. Thanks again!
