I just got one for 32 over (72 in a 40) and hired an attorney.

He claims (and many ///M friends concur) his record is 100% dismissals and his fee was only $125.00.

I have pretrial hearing set for the 16th and we'll see what happens after. Good luck to you!

Last night, 95 in a 65. But honestly it was triple digits. Almost empty freeway, just getting on the on ramp....

CHP was nice guy, I was completely honest with my speed when asked, and I have no moving violations in the last 10+ years.

Got off with a warning....lucky....

Good luck OP. I use to live in the NE for 5 years, and I know in NY I would have probably been in jail.

Sorry to hear this. I never had radar detector. But i sure do have Laser Jammers and about 5 pba and 2 gold cards. Lol. But i never go past the speed limit. Lol.

looks like you already got a lawyer which is good. anything over 21Mph will be tough to fight. almost double the speed limit is i think a misdemeanor. im thinking the lawyer will plea bargain out of it.. possibly for a lower point offense and some hefty cash. you wont get away scott free though. good luck!

Wait so you got pulled over for tint and even though you were in uniform he still wrote you up? That's not a hater man that's a D*ck.

A family friend's an officer and told me a story about a cop that didn't immediately stop for a chp. they practically got into a fight on the side of the road. The cop was late for a moonlighting gig and was driving over 100mph on the highway in light traffic. The chp would have let him off if he would have stopped in a courteous manner but he took too long, was rude and disrespectful.

In New York, a "reckless driving" summons under VTL 1212 can be given when an officer has reasonable cause to believe that a driver "unreasonably" interferes with the free and proper use of a public highway, or "unreasonably" endangers users of a public highway. Since reckless driving is an unclassified misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of thirty days in jail, the tickets are returnable to New York City Criminal court and are issued as a pink summons.

speed alone is not a reckless driving ticket in NY, i was given an 82 in a 45 last week, 37mph over the listed speed limit, and was not given a reckless driving ticket. Granted this was on LI and NYC officers routinely give out BS reckless driving tix but that is not NYS law.

good luck! you will likely get it reduced, always bring a lawyer, they get to conference with the prosecutors before those who dont bring in a lawyer. Plus you see the judge first before everyone else (99% of the time)
