Tunes available yet?
With all these companies having a "shop" M5 , does anyone actually have a tune ready to but yet?
Velos Switzer Pp perf Who else? I hear of some in Europe having the same issues. What's the hold up? Nothing really available to up the horsepower yet. |

I've used Dinan a few times but I recently had a very disappointing experience with them. I had a 335 with a stage 2 ECU flash and once the new BMW software had to be installed the car ran like shit. Dinan was pointing the finger at BMW and BMW was pointing the finger at Dinan. No one wanted to take responsibility or fix it. This is a very long story but the car was back and forth at the dealer. Stock software put back in the car, then Dinan software put back in and it did not fix the problem. I was very unhappy on how things were handled by Dinan. The relationship between BMW and Dinan is fading is what I am told by a friend who is a BMW tech. This story proves his assessment to be true in my opinion.

There are a few smaller tuner shops that have released theirs but I think the big name tuners are still in R&D. I think it'd be wise to wait a bit as the long term R&D and field testing may pay dividends for those concerned about power train longevity and/or drive-ability or just plain they've discovered a better tune than their initial run.
Big horsepower and torque gains aren't everything if the motor/trans won't survive long thereafter or the drive-ability is compromised. Not saying the motor/trans is likely to do that or that any of the current available tunes by shops are bad but it should be something to seriously consider for a savvy M5 owner before shelling over the $$. I think a great idea as various tunes come out is having a database just like IND did with the exhaust database. That way customers can compare dyno sheets and decide what kind of tune might be best for their driving needs. |

Look here.
Buy here. Karl Otto Noelle is the brains behind Alpina's famed turbo technologies that are the basis for every BMW turbo car today (135, 335, 535, M5, etc.) Doesn't get any more credible than that. I have Step 3 on my car and it performs beautifully and has zero issues. Ron Trochelman is an absolute perfectionist, enthusiast and highly connected BMW performance expert. A perfect partnership with Noelle. Runs the same products on his personal F10 M5. Highly credible as well. Last edited by ColdList; 03-08-2013 at 06:05 PM.. |

Here's is Noelle Motors web site. They're definately the real deal. I must admit that their gains when going to Step 2 and Step 3 are not all that impressive, especially for the cost. I would do their Step 1 if they had a local representative.

Arnie, my car absolutely flies with the Step 3. Would leave a stock M5 in the dust. What you need to remember is that what Noelle tells you are REAL unadulterated numbers. Do not compare to the fantasies you read from tuners on here. Karl Otto Noelle basically designed the entire turbo application for motors today. No one knows better period. |
