I agree, and no it's not acceptable. Just the nature of that tire and it seems BMW is not willing to just recall them and be done with it. Since I posted the original comment here, I actually have another bubble. It's on the interior sidewall this time.

As you know all too well, you don't even need to hit anything hard. They just blow up even on a small bump. I've had a couple of these goodyears actually explode out of the sidewall; complete failure.. It's something to see..and experience.

With that said, I will be purchasing the BMW tire and wheel insurance when I get my M5 in April. It's only a couple grand and clearly worth it. While the M5 tire might not be as prone to damage as the Goodyear, I am sure I will go through a few tires and maybe a wheel in 36 months. Just nails and screws will make the insurance worth it. Dealer wants $2185, done!
