So if M6 GC only 8K more would you go for it instead?

Priced 2 cars. Previously gap seemed to be much wider. Mind you, no comp pack on M6, but 8K diff gets em pretty close, thoughts?

They will have very different performance characteristics (especially with the comp pack on the M5).

If you are looking for harder edged performance, I would absolutely choose the M5 (even for same money). If you are looking for prestige, looks and luxury, go M6GC.

Rob hit the nail on the head. I'll take F10 M5 all day every over the M6 Gran Coupe even if it had Comp Pack and CCB's. The M5 is much more of a drivers car, the M6 GC is more for looks.

Not sure I'd pay $8k more for a car that offers the same performance but is less practicle. What you're really paying for is the exclusivity, so whether it's worth $8k is a very subjective call.

Subjective call based on what YOU need and want. Dave aka RPIM5 is a driver first and a stylist second so he takes function over form all day long thus the M5. Then you may have the luxo cruiser style driver who fancies form over function and the GC would be the choice. It all depends on who you are.... I like form and function as these cars are really not true sports cars; they are GT cruisers with sports car characteristics to some degree. For 8k if thats the true margin; Id take the GC as its just so striking and in the real world daily driving you will find the performance difference negligible.

Are those prices you posted msrp? or prices you are getting? If they are msrp's Im sure the discount (if any) would be greater on the 5 than the GC.

Those are MSRP prices. True, it may be a wider gap once discounts applied.

I had a similar opportunity a few weeks ago, the M6GC seemed like a steal - they were offering a fair amount on a trade in for my M5.

In the end, I stayed with my M5, I just prefer how the M5 looks compared to the M6GC.

What they all said

I'm in the camp of save the 8K and put a full aftermarket exhaust on the M5.

It is more likie a $19K gap when you factor in the CP and full leather since you could fine a M5 without those.

You're kidding yourself if you don't compare equivalent option packages. CP is a meaningful difference. And you should compare both with LED lights.

A near fully loaded M5 vs. a near base M6 GC. As much as I love the aesthetics of the GC, I would get the M5 and have 8K extra sitting in the bank.

Use the 8k for HREs cause the CP wheels aren't the greatest looking

No.

While the car is stunning in person, and commands presence on the road, it is a big car...a very big car.

Also - try the rear doors in the GC. With the slanting roof, see how many times you hit your head - lol! Both great cars and really can't go wrong with either. I think you should drive a comp pkg car and then decide. If the ride stiffs up more than it is and your not the type to track the car, then it might be to "harsh" for everyday. Just think it through and see what you really want. Deep down, I think you already know, your just looking for a push in that direction - lol!
