Throw on a turbo back and up the boooooost! Even n54's are hitting 450-500whp and they're a much smaller 6 with much smaller turbos!
give it time and will be more powerful tunes. Remember, first post states this as a STAGE1.

This Stage I Velos Tune appears to just be a software tune w/o any other modifications; that's a very nice +13%Hp and +16%lb-ft. (I'd need to see Velos' stock baseline dyno runs to make sure my math is right - I was basing that off 560Hp/502lb-ft reported from BMW).

As others have mentioned, there are shops making 400Hp easily with the N54/N55 motors in 135i/335i/535i.

So extrapolating from those numbers we know that typical aftermarket boost upgrades generally gain 15-25%. I would not be surprised if we soon see 650-750Hp M5's/M6's. Probably a Stage II style setup that would include a Software Tune and aftermarket exhaust (maybe cat back, new high flow cat and/or turbo back...I don't know).

750+ will come with Stage III - improved intercoolers, fuel delivery system, turbo back exhaust, etc...

Given enough time and money shops like Underground Racing, HPF, Hennesy, etc could take the S63 motor out to +1000Hp.

I don't understand the need for a tune like this. The M5 is traction limited not power limited. Not sure you would get much benefit from more power.

How could you not understand the "Need" for more POWER!

Valid Point. I've already seen the traction light flash stomping on it around 80mph and then again from the upshift from 3rd to 4th around 100mph!!

Do you think every 600+ HP car is pointless then?

Throwing out the G-Powered M5, HPF M3, etc. etc.

650hp can easily be handled for a 4000lb+ car unless you're trying to put it down on uneven surfaces and just complain about not having traction.
That's equivalent to a Civic SI driver chirping going into 2nd and complaining about the lack of traction.

Not at all. The M5 is already a 600+hp car. Have you been following the dyno tests?

Thumbs down

Is this the exact same tune that is available form many tuners, i.e the tune from BMW? Nobody yet can remap the ECU as far as I know.

In addition to before and after dyno numbers, tuners should post GPS logs of before and after pulls from 60-130mph. Where the rubber hits the road is, well, where the rubber hits the ROAD, not a rolling dyno drum...

How much power in the X5M?

I've heard a simple tune and exhaust can get up to around 700 crank horsepower on the S63 engine.
