looks almost like a blue chrome paint...some people have the worst taste. An M5 is too classy a car to get riced out like that.

Yes. Same way in UK and Ireland. In fact, that pic looks like it is an airport parking spot not unlike the ones at Heathrow.

Anyway, need to loose about 20 more pounds before picking up the car on Oct 1. Word of advise, eject the passengers prior to parking so you can offset for the driver door as much as possible.

Ladies and Gents,
After several long months of waiting, the US F10 M5 has finally been picked up! It seems to be the first US customer delivery and it arrived yesterday from the port directly to the dealer and I could not sleep all night long. All I can say is WOW WOWW and some WOWWW!!!! This beast is amazing!!!!

Before I get into the short review for the hour or two that I had the car, I just want to thank Park Ave BMW and especially the great support that I have received from a extremely knowledgeable salesman Stephan-Sabit Hadzhiev (201-843-7900 ext. 215). Very cool guy, very honest since the day I walked in. Sabit and the sales manager Jeremy have stayed on top of this car since the day I placed my deposit, constantly updated me through phone calls, emails and text messages when anything happened with the car (order placed, accepted, started build, shipped, arrived etc.) and therefore I was not suprised that I am one of the first US Owners of this amazing beast.

Now lets gets to the short review and to show you some pictures that I've taken quickly.

Short review:

I've only had the car for about 2 hours as I took the long way home, but wanted to come home so I can submit the review and pictures for all the members here.

The car from the outside, looks amazing! I don't think the pictures do it justices and I am not sure about the other colors but the car is extremely amazing. Looks extremely powerful, all I can say is wow!!! I've added the IND center and side grills immediately and also replaced the yellow side markers. I must say it makes a very nice difference. From the front of the car, the side, the back the wheels, the mirrors, I mean everything from the outside looks perfect.

Once I opened the door, the full sakhir orange and the black piano trim looked amazing. I was a bit afraid that it will stand out to much as I would of went a bit more conservative with a black interior, but this just looks amazing! No regrets regarding the color. The seats had tons of options and especially loved the ventilation option, worked very well. The leather definitely looks like high quality leather, will see how it holds up. The black piano trim looks very impressive, but it is black, so little dust particles kept falling on it and you can see them, just bring a soft cloth with you in the car.

The new navigation. I came from a 2009 E92 M3 (lemans blue), and I must say that the navigation wasn't much different. Obviously the design has been updated, looks sharper, brighter and faster, but overall with some of the added options it was still the great nav that was there that I was used to from the M3. The front and side cameras are great, especially the rear one but I still have to get used to it since I did not have that previously.

The car has tons of options, which I will need some time to get used to. Basically I will just have to click around a lot to get used to it instead of trying to learn everything from the manual. By the way, BMW has added a digital manual in the console so you don't really need the hard copy anymore, not to mention that it had instructions with photos and videos.

The B&O sound system was an excellent choice. The nicely designed speaker in the center pops out and it does not obstruct your driving view. I connected my iphone through bluetooth and played some high quality songs and I was very impressed with the sound. I would probably give it a 8.5/9 out of 10. If you have the money, definitely go for it. I ended up not taking the night-vision and rear entertainment system, but I used that money on everything else.

Once I started the car, there was this great short "Vroooooom" sound that came out once the car started from the exhaust. Once I started driving the car, it definitely is like many people said a wolf in sheep's clothing. It moves extremely well for a car that size and it seems like I am driving a size of my M3. The handling is superb. Especially when I played with a few sports settings, you totally feel the difference between comfort, sport and sport plus and I did not have that much time to play with those settings.

The "fake" exhaust sound that some members were referring to that comes from the speakers, to be honest, I could not hear it. Also, I've gone over some slight bumps on the road just to see if there is any clacking noise coming from the rear-springs that some people mentioned on the '12 M5's, could not hear anything either.

The DCT gearbox worked extremely well from my short ride. I cannot give you a lengthy review on this as I've had the car literally for an hour and drove it about 10 miles. However what I can tell you is that even if the DTC is on, in the first gear, its still very easy to have the tires spin, cant imagine with the DTC off.

Anyways that review is enough for now, enjoy the pictures while I go enjoy the ultimate driving machine and I apologize for the crappy pics. Let me know if you have any questions.

Official ALPINE WHITE F10 M5 Photos Thread

UPDATED 8/27/12

I picked up my new M5 on Friday (8/24/12) and have only driven about 250 miles cruising around this weekend. I have so many things I would like to cover - but I will try to start with some key areas that I had been curious about prior to getting my M5.

I had been driving a 2012 F10 550i M Sport since I purchased it in March of this year. I originally had hoped to get the M5 at the beginning of 2012 - it looked as though the US would be getting it along with the rest of the world. As we all found out, this was not to be - but great things come to those who wait, right? In my case, I can be a very impatient person. Having driven and owned many different BMW and BMW M models I thought the 550 would pacify my "need" for the M5. It looked similar anyway. Well, that is where the similarity ends, hands down. I am going to touch briefly on a few key areas, mainly because I have not driven the M5 long enough yet. I hope to follow up after my 1200 mile break-in period, once I have a chance to embellish a bit with my right foot. For now, I have left the car in the "efficient" setting which yields the lowest throttle response.

To start with, I have absolutely no complaints about my 550. I go on record to say that I was 100% satisfied with this car. It was flawless - perfectly built without any problems whatsoever. With the M Sport package - it is truly a beautiful looking automobile. Still aggressive and "sporty", but slightly less so in appearance when compared to the M5. In my case and opinion - it would be the 20" wheels and the front end differences that set it apart ever so slightly. Wider flared front fenders and the front air intake is a bit larger, pointing out further on each side where the fog lights are on the 550. Again, I was very happy with the 550 - if it were not for the new M5 (and my own insanity), I would have been satisfied driving it for a long while.

But we could argue about the cosmetic differences forever - it really is very subjective. Everyone has their own opinion. Let me get to the first thing that I found out right away after driving the new M5 - steering and overall ride.

I am not a professional driver and not competent on a track. As such, I suspect that I am at least a capable and experienced driver that is certainly confident while sitting behind the wheel. This being said, I was uncertain of how the debate on electric versus hydraulic steering mattered. So far, this has been the most noticeable difference between the two cars. I kept reading and hearing reviews talk about the feedback from the steering wheel and knowing where the tires were on the road, etc. Not only do you "feel" every bump and divot on the highway, you feel the front wheels pull at your hands when turning. I suspect this is part of what people are referring to when describing the advantages of hydraulic steering. Again, I am not a professional driver and struggle to describe what I have noticed here. The 550's electric steering is simply numb in comparison. No feedback whatsoever. I can say however that the 550 is a bit easier to maneuver around a parking lot - much of this is probably attributable to my model's Integral Active Steering option though.

As far as the ride is concerned - there is a significant difference in how the cars feel here as well. Both have EDC/damper control. My 550 has 4 modes (comfort+, comfort, sport and sport+) whereas the M5 has 3 modes (comfort, sport and sport+). The names may be similar between the two cars, but the actual functionality of the modes is very different. For example - comfort is listed on both cars but the comfort mode on the M5 is somewhere closer to sport on the 550. That isn't to say that the M5 is not comfortable - it is very comfortable, just in a different manner. A bit firmer (not harsh though). You just get a very confident feeling when driving the M5 in contrast to the 550. The 550, although still a refined BMW, is just "softer" in every way. Don't get me wrong - it still has 400 ponies and 450 lb. ft. of torque - it hauls if you want it to, no trouble at all. On each of the damper settings, the M5 is simply a notch tighter than the 550, in a good way for me. Both of these cars can be adjusted to operate very different as well - depending on a number of settings. The M5 obviously has more settings to play with - the 550 has the EDC and transmission/throttle response adjustments, depending on which of the 4 modes the car is in.

A quick note on the transmission differences - My 550 has the 8 speed sport automatic transmission. It is very smooth and has very short gears on the low end. Obviously the DCT can perform/shift faster and handles the increased torque of the M5. Although I have not pushed the M5 yet – they react completely different. Again, the 550 has a “softer” feel – the first gear shift almost seems to come on too early. So far, using the efficient and comfort mode on the M5, I already like it more. I cannot wait until I get a chance to try more aggressive settings. I really think the transmission is where the M5 shines so well – even the audible whine of the gears comes into the cabin as you drive. It reminds you what you’re driving is not just an ordinary car.

Please let me know if there is anything specific that you wish to ask regarding my experience with these cars, especially the M5. I plan on driving the M5 this week and returning with more to say about it. I will work on posting some shots of the cars side by side as well while I still have the 550 - I am in the process of selling it. I do not plan on keeping it - there is really no reason to have 2 F10 sedans. It's just not the same now anyway – I think it’s jealous of the M5.

Official ALPINE WHITE F10 M5 Photos Thread

Took delivery of my M5 yesterday. Couldn't be more pleased. I upgraded from a 2012 550xi (Dinan Stage 4) and even with the similar power the M5 feels significantly faster.

I'm also very impressed with the new navigation system and some of the small tweaks throughout the cabin. The Sakhir Orange is stunning in person. My only complaint is the Piano Black. I'm not sold on the combination. I may look to swap someone for Aluminum Trace at some point.

I opted for everything except Night Vision (had it on the outgoing car and didn't use it much) and Rear Entertainment.

Now I'm trying to decide if I keep the stock 343M wheels or put my 20" HRE P40SC wheels on the car.

Some pics attached.

I installed the IND painted reflectors and side markers yesterday. Getting rid of the chrome really transforms the look of the car in my opinion.

I also decided to put the HRE's on. I think they look amazing and really offset the beautiful brake calipers.

Hi Guys,

We just lowered dbae's F10 M5 today with H&R springs. The ride quality with these springs are quite comfortable. You can tell they are a little bit stiffer, but not compromising comfort. We also installed matte black fender grills. Enjoy the pics

Official ALPINE WHITE F10 M5 Photos Thread

After all the wait from the dreaded oil pump issue, I was finally able to do a little photo shoot of my new ride. I can't wait until break in, but overall the car is a pleasure to drive. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Just sharing some pictures hope you like them. Got bored and took one too many pics sorry about that
Akrapovic exhaust is so sick you must hear it in person...videos don't do it justice. You want loud exhaust look elsewhere ...if you want perfect sound and tone with zero drone this is it

Car is lowered on H&R springs the HRE wheels are 9.5 and 10.5x20 inch wheels. Tires are 265 and 295 Pzeros.

Hey guys,

Last night I took some shots near my house. I didn't get a chance to edit them yet, so please don't mind the crummy shots. So far I the mods are as follows:

1. H&R Lowering Springs - Trinity Auto Sport
2. Klassen 21" One Piece Forged Aluminum wrapped in Michellin Super Sports
3. Black M5 Gills - Trinity Auto Sport
4. Body Matched front and rear reflectors.

Future Mods:

1. Black Grill (having trouble locating one with night vision)
2. Gloss Black door handle inserts
3. RPi Exhaust
4. RPi Down Pipes
5. RPi/ESS Tune

Before the VR M5 returned from SEMA, our friends at SSR did a quick photoshoot to showcase the new Executor CV01's that we had fitted.
They are spec'd put at 21x9 and 21x10.5 in a brushed finish with a polished step lip. H&R springs help get the car a little lower on the tires. The Carbon Hood, Trunk, and Diffuser are all Seibon pieces, while the front lip is a one-off that we made in house. Exhaust is an Eisenmann race system, combines with a set of Agency Power downpipes. IND supplied the blacked out front and side grills.
Enjoy!
