Low oil every 500 Miles? Help to resolve?

The oil burning will cause the car to fail smog, it will eventually kill the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter.

This is why SapphireM5 never took his M5 over 4500rpm.

I don’t really know. It starts out small and gets worse. It’s probably similar to other valve issues or even piston/bore issues. Probably don’t know for sure until it is torn down. Most of the money goes to taking it out and putting it back, because the engine is crammed into the bay without much room and there a lot of connections to deal with and fluids to refill.

Bumping this thread. I'm at 83k and like clockwork have put in 4 quarts of oil the last 2k miles. Went to dealership and was the valve seals... ugh.. I'm looking to keep the car so will likely move forward but not the news I wanted to hear. thanks for this post
