Competition pack

My first post after joining a few weeks ago, I am on my third M5 after 2 V10 E60's and currently driving a 2013 MCB with silverstone F10 M5 and have loved them all dearly but the F10 is special! I am now approaching 3 years with my current F10 and its time to start thinking about ordering my next for delivery in March 2016.

I am currently looking at a SG with SO interior with the competition pack to differentiate from my current car, what are the thoughts on the competition pack?? Is the steering, exhaust and suspension a genuine step up?

Placing my order end of next week so any comments are welcome.

Thanks

David G

Personally, I would save the money on the comp package and put that towards a full Dinan package. A dinan dealer can package and include it in your finance

Frankly that's not something I would do in the UK, assuming its even possible.

Several reasons why not.

No dealer warranty
No dealer support
The CP is already faster than most UK roads can cope with, especially from a traction standpoint
The resale value will be lower

The Competition pack moves the car from being 'comfortable' and slightly wallowy to become tighter, better controlled, better damped and more responsive, making for a more precise and gratifying drive on twisty B roads. Whether you appreciate CP or not depends on your driving style.....Brisk and above, go CP

I did not know you're in the UK. In the US the dinan is supported and sold by BMW and warrantied.

Since Dinan is not an option, definitely pick up the comp package. It's worth it IMO.

One thing to think about is the wheels. 343M is lighter and forged compared to the comp package wheels

Competition package is worth it. Go for it! I've owned both 13 and 15 with CP and there's a noticeable difference.

Agreed. I also had a 13 and 14. Comp pack has a better suspension setup, louder exhaust, and more power.

I too have had two F10's - the first was the base model and this one is a competition package..they are great cars - but once you start modding.. it's a different story...

Take a read thru this pretty long and informative thread on the Competition Pack: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1166364

Bottomline, no one regrets getting the Comp Pack. But plenty of people regret NOT getting it.

Brilliant, I would say I test the car (or it tests me) every time I am in it so the CP sounds like the way to go. Thank you for all the comments and advice.
Order will be placed tomorrow with CP.
Thanks

Every M car I've had has had CP, so I can't tell you what the difference is. I think it's worth it, but clearly others think it's a waste of money for what you get. I also think if you're going down the modding route later then there are much better options for the price if you're doing exhaust, suspension and engine mods. As far as being in the UK with your roads, I don't think CP adds that much more where you wouldn't appreciate it. I installed the exhaustmeister and it's great. It opens/closes the exhaust valves with a little remote, about twice as loud I think just from my ear. Took me about 15 min to install. Nice to have when your leaving in the middle of the night and want to be quiet rather than wiring them open.

Thank you Bronch, I will not be modifying the car after purchase and thats why I am going with the CP, I also like the exclusivity and feel it will make my second F10 feel and sound different.

That said I am interested in learning more of the exhaustmeister to understand if I can get one in the UK and have it fitted. I will review availability and cost to fit.

Thank you all

not all BMW dealers are standing behind DINAN with all the issues i've read concerning warranty issues. My dealer pulled all Dinan products out of their show room and parts room.

Mine is fully backing and still going strong on the Dinan installs. I'm not worried (currently).

that's good to hear! i inquired about the tune upgrade but my BMW was fighting a claim about a customer's motor detonating and both parties are now pointing fingers.
