I notice the issue when I don't drive aggressively, when I say aggressive I don't mean like most here would consider aggressive, in short when it starts happening a few strong braking sessions (3 or 4 lights) gets rid of it for a week or two..
Ultimately regular washes like others have said also helps.

I have 2014 M5 CP w CCB and they will make some noise, especially with a little moisture at low speed with soft effort. A few hard stops and they quiet right down, it isn't that bad.

re
"they all squeal" is a lame response. Thats what I got from a service manager at one service department I will never go back to. I brought my car in for ticking noises in the dashboard and mentioned the brake squeal. They discovered one of my rotors was slightly warped and proceeeded to call me and scold me and accuse me of getting my rotors red hot because thats the only way they said you could warp a rotor. Which by the way is completely false. So my sense is BMW is sending out a lot of "this is normal". I got a "this is normal" for the absurdly loud fuel injector ticking in my car that echos through my dashboard when its cold--the clunking was normal too until BMW decided it was not. Brake Squeal is unacceptable on a four door sedan of this nature. Its like saying its normal for beautiful woman to have herpes

I have had squeal on three high performance cars. I consider it normal as well. My m5 has yet to develop the squeal ( knock on wood).

I got the squeal, bedded the brakes in again and it went away. Got it again some time later. It seems to me - at least for my car, that the squeal comes back after the car has been washed or there has been heavy rain. When it comes back, I let the brakes warm up and do a mini-bed in (2 or 3 hard stops from 60-20) and I am usually good to go until the next wash/hard rain. I suspect that minerals settle on the pads, discs or both. In any event, it seems to be addressing the problem for me so far.

Bedding them in works... if it reappears, a couple of hard stops will make it go away.
I scuffed the rotors (which really makes them squeal), replaced with Carbotech low dust pads (Because I can't stand BMW brake dust), then bed them in properly. The main squeal was gone, there was a little squeal for about 100-150 miles until the scuffed rotors were completely worked in, then all squealing was gone. It had happened approx. 1-2 times in the past 1200 miles and 2 hard stops makes it go away.

1: Perform the bedding in procedure as mentioned, and repeat a couple of hard stops as necessary;
2: Keep the wheels and brake components as clean as possible, and 3: Use this on the backing plates of the pads: http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-24125.../dp/B0018PSASU |
