BMW Ohio

Hello everyone, I'm working on getting a ED M5, my dealer in Toledo, OH area won't work with me as he's says he only has one allocation left and wants that to get on his lot to make more money. (told me after 2 weeks of discussions)

Anyone recommend a good dealer / salesperson in OH? I'm hoping to get something better than just ED MSRP. Not expecting the same deal others got here early this year.

Reason for needing OH is the sales tax loop hole for my trade in. Saves about 4k for me and I won't have to deal with selling my car to private parties.

Thanks for the help.

I just picked up my new M5 in Columbus. I would highly recommend Kelly BMW - Easy to work with. Contact Bill Reifsteck - very knowledgable and refreshingly they play no games. Awesome experience.

I will send you a PM with his contact info.

Aatir @ Jake Sweeney in Cincinnati.

I am aware of several that did ED with them (including myself). He is great to work with and has taken care of us after the sell.

I will second this. Aatir was easy to work with, knows the product and quite honestly between him and the dealership, made the whole process as easy as purchasing an auto really should be. None of the normal back and forth stuff you run into at many dealerships.

Isnt sales tax loophole based on state of registration? I have traded in a car to NJ registered in CT and gotten the sales tax benefit on my trade in value.

Living in Columbus I cant stand Kelly BMW. Worst BMW dealership I have ever dealt with. I would never give them another dime of my money. The sales staff from their GSM to their CA are arrogant, rude, and judge within you walking into the dealership. If you look like you have money they will try to gouge you. If you dont look like you have money they will be short and arrogant.

Aatir at Jake Sweeney BMW is the best. I recommended him several times and not one person has said it was the wrong choice.

BTW, just tried to PM you. It told me you were unable to receive PM's.

A little bit surprised no one recommends BMW Cleveland, the largest dealership in Ohio. They will have allocation for your ED order. Look for Debbie or Ron

What is Aatir's email? Not sure why my pm's stopped working. thanks for the help. Kelly BMW also didn't have an allocation and would only off MSRP.

sorry about your luck. I encourage you to try Cleveland and Columbus based dealers. I use to live in Columbus, but don't have any experience to opine.

Just curious as my parents are doing a sale or trade of an old car as well while they buy a new car, what's the loop hole you're aware of?

I believe it has to do with the tax on a lease car.

My assumption on the taxes was avoiding tax payment on the amount you are trading in for, since you paid tax on that portion once already

In OHIO, if you are "purchasing" a new car and trading one in, you pay the sales tax on the difference of the 2. Purchase price "not MSRP" minus trade value. Now this does not apply if you are leasing the new car. If you live in INDIANA you get this benefit either you buy brand new or pre-owned. In Kentucky you get this benefit only if you are purchasing a pre-owned car.
