My 2 cents
I live in NYC area - where roads are easily one of the worst in the country. And I have a CP. it's completely fine. Keep it in comfort mode and drive it normally - much much better then the E90 and marginal harsher than my 2014 Acura MDX.

You will be surprised how smooth the car is on even in rough pavement. I drove it on a cobblestone road couple of weekends ago (was in philly and certain roads in old city are cobblestone). No complaints there either.
I never tried to drive the cp car. But if it is as you describe then probably I will regret that i did not buy the cp.
Just received my first M5.

Yes, Yes and Yes

I previously owned an E60 M5 blk on blk with the 6 speed and loved that car. Decided to drive 2 different F10 without the competition package and liked it enough to put my E60 up for sale. The plan was to sell the E60 and wait a few months before purchasing an F10. After doing some research, I found out about the completion package. Couldn't find one local to drive but did find one near where a close friend lives. I left a deposit , flew out to visit my friend and drove the car. To sum it up: I drove 2 non comp cars and was on the fence. Drove a comp car and had no problem dropping 90k on it. Maybe it's just the subtle changes but it was enough to put a smile on my face and a dent in my wallet. My salesmen really pushed the comp car and once I felt what that car could really do, it was a solid deal.
I am by no means saying the stock car is not a great car, it's just that the comp pack adds a little more. Yes, you could by a stock car and add an aftermarket exhaust and upgrade the suspension and have the same or better performance.

Should have been a standard option in the M5 MO. Sold my M5 two months ago lost the need for a 4 door .......great car. I track my GT3 not sure what fun it is to track a 4k lbs car. I tried it the tires will be ruined in a day.

sorry for thread revival.

when you guys talk about 13 year m5's do you mean pre lci?

over here in the UK i have found a 13 reg LCI comp pack and i'm wondering if its the ones you talk about where the 13 reg was no good and 15 is much better

Never drove a non-CP car as my car came with it, I am always amazed about the power and comfort of this M5. Hard to beat specially if you drive it hard.

i hope it will have less issues than my e60 m5.

I have it, it's a little louder but that's about it.

Yeah it's lighter but on a car this heavy, doesn't make much of a difference.

However, with that said, I have Akra on both my X5M and M5 (MPE).

There is only 3 differences between comp and non comp

1.springs (suspension is exactly same just lowered springs)
2. Mufflers.
3. Steering rack ratio (it's a same steering wheel just different programing) bmw made different part numbers but its just marketing.

From a resell standpoint, coming from the E9X M3 world, I can tell you CP will be more highly coveted with owners 2, 3, 4 down the line.

I've observed the same thing with even the E46 M3.

Both E9X and E46 M3s had minimum adjustments made to the car, and has literally no measurable performance gains over the standard car, but enthusiasts are still looking for ZCP as #1 option.

With the M5/6 and especially with the 600 HP bump in the '16 models, the performance gains are measurable and I think it'll be a key option people will be looking for in the future. Today, there's about a few thousand premium (about $2-3k) for a CP. In the future, I just think it'll help you sell the car more easily and at a lesser discount.
