What grips better... NITTO's or TOYO R888R ???

Hi All,

Ive just about been through every tire make and model, and found the R888R to be the best to date for hooking up 800+ BHP, but ive not tried any of the NITTO range, does anyone have any experience of using both?

Just to confirm im looking for straight line grip NOT to go round a track, M/T ET's i know would be best BUT not available in my size 315/30/20

(Just put my all season tires on this morning ready for winter, so feeling like ive lost a turbo, or a couple of cylinders as the grip is rubbish

Nothing beats the mt streets. And you should go with 19's for the closest circumference to what you have stock. The 20"s are to tall. I have nitto nt05's are 20" mt's and the traction is not comparable. I know they have other models but if you want to buy once invest in a 19" set up.

Don't DD with Mickey Thompsons... on the drag strip nothing can beat 'em. I tried them on the 1/2 mile and while grip is decent from the start, its very wobbly after 160mph - and I took it to 175. It felt like the rear was moving around!

Sounds scary, is there a tire that falls in-between the Toyo's and the MT street ??

It's a drag radial while the R888R isn't quite that. I will try both and let you know!

I have the Nitto 555r drag radial 305/35/20 and have used the NT05r drag radial on previous cars. The NT is stickier. Right now the 555r with 20psi in them and a little heat will dead hook for me. I am about 600-625 at the tire. Both have been stable for me at high speeds.

That would sure help alot of folk's out, thanks allmotor. Toyo's were fantastic but as my power increases its not hooking even in 2nd gear anymore with heat, so need to find the next step up without going as crazy as M/T streets as can't daily drive those, or take corners it seems

Maybe NT05R is the answer?

by the way i think there only available in 315/35/20 not 315/30/20

I had the 315 R888's on the rear and they lasted 5k miles as a DD......I suspect NT05R and 555R will be worse......which do you all recommend for DD and best grip 700+whp?

Was looking at the NT05 or R888R......I tried the NT555 G2 with the expected zero grip but long treadlife

I feel like MPS 4S are probably best daily tire. I use those on my FI’s and getting a dedicated second set of wheels for drag and roll racing. Will run NT05R on my second set.

So you think forget about Nitto NT05 for DD compared to MPS 4S?
