What kind of gas do you use in your M5?

Has anyone had any different results regarding the fuel they put in? I use shell 93, 98% of the time and I sware this car pulls like a freight train. I put 93 BP in the other day cause their deals were to appealing and my car definitely felt slower. Never again LOL.

Interesting, crazy how something so small can make such a big difference. Shell 93 FTW!

If we ran race gas on our turbos and it adapted the hp gain is measurable no doubt.

not sure if it's a turbo car thing or not. I religiously used VPower in my old Evo 8 and my M3....until my local BP sold 93 at 10 cents per gallon cheaper than my Shell...

I'm not sure if I buy it. I think all top tier gasolines are the same, Ultimate (BP) = Vpower = Techron.

watched it, they have to do more than 1 run per fuel to convince me. why would you trust 1 sample as fact?

If they did multiple runs each, then we'll have a good idea. I just think if they took a more scientific approach then I'll believe it when I see the numbers. Use, 2 different STis and GTis...etc.

Kind of like how those consumer reports test cell phone carrier speeds. They test cross multiple phones, multiple cities, multiple areas, and they report average speeds (not the best single number observed). Would you feel comfortable if the prescription pill you take was only tested once on one person?

Look at the end of the day if VPower was better than Ultimate, don't you think Shell would have boasted some kind of test that can repeatedly show higher HP and TQ over Ultimate? I bet you they've all attempted the test, and the numbers doesn't show any major difference outside of "noise" factors in the data. So basically, all of these top tiers likely are the same. Wouldn't you at least do this if you were the brand manager at Shell? I sure as hell would have attempted this test to try to beat my competitors. If I could scientifically show it, I would have advertise the shit out of it and squeeze everyone else out. Which brings us to the claim everyone makes, premium fuel with their detergents are better than 87. No one will debate that fact, b/c they have pictures and all sorts of facts to back it up.

I'm lucky enough to have a 76 Station right by my office that carries 100 Octane race gas. I have been running 100 octane pretty regularly and whenever I have filled up with 91 octane, I definitely notice a drop in performance.

Just me 2 cents!

(For those in the OC, its the Bonita/MacAurther 76 Station)
