F10 M5 Spotted - Production Bootlid Spoiler and Silverstone Color

Here's a case of history repeating. Every now and then, the Schiphol airport in the Netherlands is a good place for a prototype spotting. Some might remember the pictures of E92 335i and an E90 M3 prototypes years ago, today it's an F10 M5 protoype in its late testing stage (FEP), courtesy of Autojunk.nl. These shots are the first allowing us a clear look at the M5 bootlid spoiler and in the silverstone color (which looks to be a future production color). Other production trim equipment like side mirrors, side skirts and bumpers are also prevalent but still masked.

The M5 will be powered by a twin-turbo twin-scroll 4.4l V8 with more than 555hp, mated exclusively to a Double Clutch Transmission. Expect a first appearance of the M5 dubbed as a concept in April with the production version being the star of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Exciting year!

....I love the feel of a DCTM... but I must say I enjoy the MT6 feel more...

..feel sad to watch models emerge with only DCTM

Hmm.....It does not look aggressive enough. I don't see any flared wheel arches.....

I do not understand why they put camouflage over the roundel.

More than 555hp. Hmm. I'm guessing 600hp.

That shouldn't be too hard to achieve on this great engine

Looks just like a 550 M-Sport. I was expecting a bit of a wider body in the rear

Hopefully it underwent a major diet from the standard 5er.

Look back on the history of M5s you'll find that they never receive any major body modifications beyond the front and rear fascia. M5's have never had wider fenders than stock, not that it wouldn't be nice to see.

I believe the last generation did have wider fenders. That was the only model to receive it.

Every gen the M5 gets 100 more hp and gets more distinct from a normal 5 series car.

Looking back at the '88 M5... If it wasn't for the badges, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference

Apparently It is required ( possibly by law) The 1m prototypes we drove had all roundels covered, even the center caps.

When I bought my 135i there was an X3 on the floor a few days before the official release and all of the roundels were covered with blue tape, as well as the "X3" marking. Seems kind of silly.
