tire damage

gentlemen,
just wondering if any of you have had tire damage
caused by automated car washes

i had four flats this weekend on sunday
just after being lazy and going through a drive through wash
usually i have a outside hand wash, but was pressed for time

the tire guy said, that the inside of all the tires was severely worn
alignment normal

he told me he sees it not infrequently,
on porsches and mbz

the only perk of the deal changed tires to 275 front, 305 rears
bummer that had to be p zeros
i thought they were ok my 06 m5 daily driver

i will never go through a drive thru again

wondering what the experts on the post think

thanks

Bummer - sorry to hear that OP.

I lease my cars and have run the E92 M3 ZCP through the automated, brushless carwash 2 to 3 times per month for the last 36 months and have never had an issue.

I was planning to do similar w/ the F10 M5 that should land in my garage next month.

Curious - Are others that run their M5's through carwashes having the same issues?

Funny that you mention this. As you can see my experience has been linked above.

My damage was done at the DEALERSHIP car wash of all places.

Shame on me for letting them wash it as I usually take care of.

Makes me feel somewhat more comfortable it wasn't a joy ride!

Sorry to hear. I am surprised it happened to all four though. As it only impacted my drivers side where the track is.

E9x m3 tire sizes are different than f10 m5. I wouldn't be surprised that some carwashes have narrow tracks to help keep the tires lined up straight when rolling down the automated carwashes.

When you say "inside of the tires", are you talking about the tire walls or the inside of the tread pattern? If it's the tread pattern, it may be somewhat normal, due the the negative camber that is set by the factory.
